PATH Act Question: Can Single Filers with no Dependents Still Get EIC Delayed?

Been trying to figure out if my return is being held because of PATH act. I dont have any kids and only claiming EIC as a single filer. My return was accepted early February but WMR just shows processing. Starting to worry that PATH is holding me up even tho I dont have dependents.

Yes, the PATH Act applies to ANY return claiming EITC, regardless of whether you have dependents or not. The IRS is required by law to hold these refunds until at least mid-February. They cannot release these refunds before February 15th, though processing times vary after that date.

Yeah its frustrating but its meant to prevent fraud. At least you're already in the queue!

Hey! I actually just went through this myself. I found this tool called taxr.ai that helped me understand exactly what was going on with my transcript. It costs $1 but totally worth it - showed me exactly why my refund was delayed and when to expect it. Way better than guessing or waiting on hold with the IRS for hours https://taxr.ai

Is it legit? Seems kinda sketch to upload tax docs to some random site 🤔

100% legit! It's encrypted and they don't store anything. Plus its way cheaper than paying a tax pro just to look at your transcript

pro tip: if u file in march u usually get it back faster since the rush is over and PATH hold is done. learned that the hard way last year lol

The PATH Act was implemented in 2015 to fight tax fraud and applies to ALL EITC claims. Here's what you need to know: - Affects any return claiming EITC or ACTC - Mandatory hold until Feb 15th - No exceptions for single filers - Processing can take 21 days AFTER hold lifts Best way to track your specific situation is using taxr.ai - it analyzes your transcript and gives you a clear timeline. Way more accurate than the WMR tool or calling IRS.
