570 Code on Transcript with "Return Processing Delayed" Message - EITC PATH Hold or Different Issue?

Filed early January and my transcripts updated with a 570 code last week. Still showing N/A for the 846 code. I claimed EITC but can't figure out if I'm under PATH act review or if this is something else. Anyone know how to tell the difference? I just checked the IRS2Go app and I'm getting this message: "Return Received | Refund Approved | Refund Sent We apologize, but your return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe. You can continue to check back here for the most up to date information regarding your refund. We understand your tax refund is very important and we are working to process your return as quickly as possible. Please read the following information related to your tax situation: Tax Topic 152, Refund Information Please Note: For refund information, please continue to check here, or visit IRS.gov/Refunds. Updates to refund status are made no more than once a day." I filed as Head of Household and claimed EITC. When I look at my transcripts I see the 570 code which I know means they're holding my refund for some reason, but there's still no 846 code (refund issued). Is this a PATH Act delay since I claimed EITC, or is something else going on? The app shows my return is received but then says processing is delayed. Does Tax Topic 152 mean I'm under review? How can I tell if this is just the normal PATH Act verification or if there's another issue with my return?

The 570 code isn't automatically PATH related. It's a general hold that could be for various reasons. Without seeing other codes on your transcript its hard to say for sure, but if you claimed EITC you're definitely subject to PATH act timing regardless of the 570.

PATH holds typically clear mid-February, but the 570 could extend that timeline if there are other issues

I've been using taxr.ai to track my refund progress and it's been super helpful. For $4.99 it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's causing delays and estimated completion dates. Way better than guessing about PATH vs other holds. https://taxr.ai

100% legit! It showed me my hold was actually income verification, not PATH. Saved me weeks of wondering

Called IRS today about similar situation. They said 570 is general freeze code and PATH is separate. Could be both tho tbh
