Amended Return Shows "Completed" October 25, But Still No Refund Despite IRS Saying "Not On Hold"

Filed my return months ago and still no direct deposit date in sight. I called a tax examiner 2 weeks ago and they said my return is 'not on hold' but I still don't see any movement on my transcript. According to the "Where's My Amended Return" page for 2023 on the IRS official website, my return shows the following status: Received: 08/22/2024 Adjusted: 10/05/2024 Completed: 10/26/2024 It states "We processed your amended return on October 26, 2024." But I'm confused because even though it shows as "Completed," I still haven't received my refund via direct deposit. The website says "If you have not received a notice and you would like to speak to a customer service representative, call 800-829-0582, extension 633, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. You will need a copy of your amended return." I already tried calling once and they said it wasn't on hold, but clearly something is going on since the money hasn't hit my account despite showing as completed. Has anyone experienced this before? Do I need to call that specific extension number instead of the general IRS line I called previously? Starting to get worried since bills are piling up and I was counting on this refund.

Tax pro here. 'Not on hold' simply means your return isn't flagged for review or audit, but it's still in the processing queue. The IRS is severely backlogged with returns from previous years, so even though it's not technically 'held up', it's still waiting to be fully processed.

Could be anywhere from 2-8 weeks honestly. The timeline is pretty unpredictable these days 😕

Hey guys, I found this tool called taxr.ai that actually analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's going on and when to expect your refund. It costs $1 but saved me weeks of stress and confusion. Check it out at https://taxr.ai

Not to be that person but maybe try contacting your local taxpayer advocate? They helped me when I was stuck in limbo for 6 months
