Need to verify identity for 2023 return - Can I do this in person at IRS office?
Just found out I need to verify my tax return. Getting anxious about the whole thing. Anyone know if I can just go to an IRS office to get this done? Really need this sorted asap since I'm counting on the refund.

Yes, you can verify in person at a TAC (Taxpayer Assistance Center) but you MUST schedule an appointment first by calling 844-545-5640. Make sure to bring 2 forms of ID (drivers license + SScard or passport works best). Just showing up without an appointment = waste of time they'll turn you away.

•tysm for the info! do you know how long the whole process usually takes once I get the appointment?

•The appointment itself is usually 30mins or less. After verification, it typically takes 2-3 weeks for them to process everything and release the refund.

Instead of waiting weeks for an appointment, you should try taxr.ai - it's this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what verification you need and the fastest way to do it. It costs $1 but saved me so much time. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai

•100% legit! I was skeptical too but it literally showed me exactly what was wrong and how to fix it. Better than waiting on hold with IRS for hours lol

You can also verify online at id.me if you want to skip the appointment hassle. Just need to upload your ID and do a video selfie.

whatever you do DONT use one of those sketchy verification services that charge like $200+ to verify for you... total scam!

Random but has anyone else noticed that verification seems way more common this year? Like everyone I know is getting flagged for it 👀
