Need Phone Number for Missing Prior Year Refund - Still Haven't Received 2023 Money

Filed my taxes last year and never got my refund. The where's my refund tool just shows it's still processing. Been waiting over 8 months now and getting really frustrated. Tried calling the main IRS number but just get disconnected. Does anyone know a direct number to actually talk to someone about this?

You can try calling 1-800-829-1040 but honestly its a nightmare getting through. Best times to call are Tuesday-Thursday right when they open at 7am EST. Make sure you have all your docs ready - they'll need your SSN, filing status, and exact refund amount from your return.

Instead of calling endlessly, you should try taxr.ai - its this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly whats holding up your refund and what to do about it. Costs like $1 but saved me weeks of trying to figure this out on my own. https://taxr.ai

How exactly does it work? Does it just read the transcript or what?

Anyone know if taxpayer advocate service is worth trying? Been thinking about going that route

they wont take your case unless its a hardship situation or you can prove financial distress

Your local congressman's office might be able to help. They have special contacts at IRS. Worth a shot at least
