Navy Federal DDD 3/15 - SBTPG Fees Taken But No Pending Deposit Yet
Just wanted to potentially start a check-in thread for those with Navy Federal and a direct deposit date of 3/15. It seems that my refund isn't showing as pending yet, but I've noticed that the fees have already been withdrawn from SBTPG and it shows as funded. I'm reasonably certain this means the money is on its way, but I'm curious about others' experiences. Has anyone with Navy Fed seen their refund actually pending in their account yet? It's probably just a processing delay, but always good to compare notes.

This is actually pretty normal compared to last year's processing patterns. Navy Federal typically shows pending deposits 1-2 business days before the actual DDD, while SBTPG often pulls their fees immediately after receiving the funds from IRS. Unlike Credit Unions like USAA that sometimes post 2-3 days early, Navy Fed tends to stick closer to the official date. I'd expect to see it pending by tomorrow morning at the latest.

Exactly right. ACH transfer protocol requires 24-48 hours for interbank settlement. My SBTPG portal updated at 0800 EST on 3/12 last filing season, but Navy Federal didn't display the pending transaction until 3/14 at 0630 EST. The settlement window is completely normal despite the anxiety it produces.

Did u check ur SBTPG acct directly or thru the tax prep software? Sometimes the direct portal shows diff status than what TT or HR Block shows. Thx for posting this btw - I'm in same boat w/ same DDD!

I went through this exact same thing last year and drove myself crazy refreshing Navy Fed every hour! I finally used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it explained the whole process - showed me that the money was actually released from IRS and that SBTPG was just doing their processing. The tool explained that once fees are taken, it's usually just 24-48 hours until the bank shows it pending. I remember obsessively checking my account for three days straight before finding that service.

Navy Federal doesn't always show pending deposits right away. Their system updates overnight between 12-2am Eastern. SBTPG taking the fees is definitely a good sign - it means they've received your refund from the IRS and are processing it for disbursement. If you don't see it pending by tomorrow morning, then you might want to contact them directly.

Have you considered what might happen if there's an issue with the transfer between SBTPG and Navy Federal? Wouldn't it be better to speak directly with an IRS agent to confirm everything is processing correctly? I was in a similar situation last year and wasted days waiting before I finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to get through to an actual IRS representative. They confirmed my refund had been released and was just working through the banking system. Sometimes peace of mind is worth more than just waiting and wondering, isn't it?

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but do you happen to know if Navy Federal treats these deposits differently based on account type? I have a checking account with them and was wondering if maybe savings accounts might process differently or if business accounts have different timelines?

My Navy Federal DDD was March 8th last year, and SBTPG took their fees on March 6th at 10:23am. The deposit showed as pending in my Navy Fed account on March 7th around 3pm, and was fully available on March 8th at 12:01am. The exact same pattern happened for my wife's return which had a DDD of February 22nd this year - fees taken, then pending deposit about 24 hours later. You're right on track for a normal timeline.
