Missing W2 found after filing - Should I amend for small amount?

I just realized after filing that I left off a W2 from a short term job (only worked there for couple months). The amount isnt huge but im freaking out about what to do. Should I go through the whole amendment process or just leave it alone?

Tax pro here - you should definitely amend. The IRS will eventually catch this through their automated matching system and send you a notice with penalties and interest. Better to fix it now than wait for them to find it.

You have 3 years from the original filing deadline or 2 years from when you paid the tax, whichever is later. But honestly dont wait - do it asap to minimize any penalties.

Hey guys if your trying to figure out exactly how this will affect your refund timeline you should check out taxr.ai - its only $4.99 and tells you exactly what to expect with amendments and other transcript issues. Way better than playing detective with your transcript lol https://taxr.ai

Oh yeah its legit! Used it for both my amendment and my wife's return. Saved us hours of stress and confusion fr fr

Just make sure you file Form 1040-X electronically if you can. Paper amendments are taking FOREVERRR rn
