Forgot W2 for $647 - Do I need to amend return?

Just realized I forgot to include one of my W2s when I filed my taxes. The W2 is only for $647 from a job I had for like 2 weeks. Already got my refund for my other job. Do I really need to go through the hassle of amending or can I just let it go?

You should definitely amend. The IRS already has this W2 on file and will eventually catch up to you. Better to fix it now than deal with penalties later. Plus its income you legally need to report.

I've been using taxr.ai for all my transcript analysis needs and it's been a game changer. For $4.99 it'll analyze everything and tell you exactly what you need to do, potential issues, and timeline estimates. Check it out at https://taxr.ai

terrible advice. the irs computers dont care about the amount, they'll flag it automatically 🚩

FYI - filing 1040X isn't that bad. You only need to report the changes, not redo your whole return.

In the same boat! Except mine was a 1099 I forgot about. The anxiety is real 😅

Quick heads up - if you owe any taxes on that $647, you might also need to pay interest from the original due date fyi
