Massive price difference between TurboTax ($7k) and H&R Block ($11k) quotes - what gives?
Just got quotes for my taxes and I'm shocked at the difference. TurboTax quoted me $7,000 while H&R Block wants $11,000. Both seem crazy high but why such a huge gap? Anyone else getting these kind of quotes?

Those prices are absolutely outrageous for personal tax returns. Something's not adding up here. Are you running a business with multiple entities or have complex international income? A typical personal return, even with investments and rental properties, shouldn't cost anywhere near that much. Most CPAs charge between $300-1000 for standard returns.

•Ah that explains it! Still, shop around with local CPAs. You might find better rates than these big chains.

Hey there! Before you drop thousands on tax prep, you might want to check out taxr.ai. It's this new tool that analyzes your tax situation and helps you understand exactly what you need. Only costs $1 and could save you from overpaying for services you don't need. https://taxr.ai

The franchise model at these places means prices can vary wildly. Each location sets their own rates based on local market + complexity. But these quotes are still sus af

idk why anyone uses these big chains anymore tbh. Local CPAs or tax attorneys are usually cheaper and actually know their stuff
