IRS rejected my 2024 tax return - How to get an ID PIN?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble filing my taxes for 2024. I tried to submit my return, but it got rejected because I'm missing an identification pin. Has anyone else run into this issue? How do I get this pin? I'm kinda freaking out because the deadline is coming up soon and I don't want to be late filing.

Ugh, been there done that. It's so frustrating when you think you're all set to file and then BAM! rejection. 🤦♂️ For the ID PIN, you gotta go through the IRS. Have you tried their 'Get Transcript' tool on their website? You'll need info from your 2023 return to verify your identity.

•Thanks for the tip! I haven't tried that yet. Do you know if I need anything specific from my 2023 return?

•Yeah, usually they ask for your AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) from the previous year. Make sure you have that handy when you go to request the transcript.

•Just a heads up, sometimes the online tool can be a pain. If it doesn't work, you might have to call them directly. Brace yourself for a loooong wait time tho 😩

I had the same issue last year. Here's what you need to do: 1. Go to the IRS website and look for the 'Get An Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN)' page 2. You'll need to verify your identity. Have your social security number, previous year's tax return, and a mobile phone ready. 3. Once verified, they'll give you a 6-digit PIN 4. Use this PIN when you file your taxes If the online method doesn't work, you can request an IP PIN by mail using Form 15227, but that takes way longer. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

•This is great info! Quick question - do you need a new PIN every year, or can you use the same one?

•Good question! The IP PIN changes every year. So yeah, you'll need to get a new one each tax season. It's a pain, but it's supposed to help prevent identity theft.

Yo, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at the IRS without waiting for hours. I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials through the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a real person picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me a ton of time and headache. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/_Bl1WagIT10

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

•I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. I was desperate after being on hold for 3 hours and getting disconnected. This service saved my sanity lol

am i the only 1 who thinks its crazy we gotta jump thru all these hoops just to pay our taxes? 🤔 like, they already know how much we owe, why make it so complicated?

•Preach! 🙌 It's almost like they WANT us to make mistakes so they can fine us more. Conspiracy theory or just incompetence? You decide! 🕵️♂️

•Ugh, don't even get me started. I've been saying this for years. Other countries have it figured out, why can't we?

Quick tip: If you're having trouble with the online system, try accessing it early in the morning or late at night. The IRS servers get overloaded during peak hours and it can cause all sorts of glitches.

Has anyone else noticed that the IRS website looks like it was designed in 1995 and never updated? 💀 I swear I get eye strain just looking at it lmao

•LOL for real tho. It's like they're purposely trying to make it as painful as possible. Maybe they should spend less on audits and more on UX design 🤷♂️

Friendly reminder to everyone: ALWAYS keep copies of your tax returns and any correspondence with the IRS. You never know when you might need that info, and it can save you a ton of headache down the road.

•This! 💯 I learned this the hard way. Now I scan everything and keep it in a secure cloud storage. Better safe than sorry!
