IRS Rep says refund under examination but won't explain actual issue - anyone else?
Just got off the phone with IRS. My refund is apparently being examined but they wont tell me why. Rep said to expect a letter in 2-3 weeks explaining everything but she could see the actual issue in the system and still wouldnt tell me. This is so frustrating! Has anyone dealt with this before? What could they be examining?

This is actually pretty common. When a return is selected for examination, IRS reps can see the issue but are instructed not to discuss specifics until the formal letter is sent. Usually, it's related to income verification, dependents, or credits claimed. Best to wait for the letter - it will outline exactly what they need from you.
