IRS Transcript Shows Codes 570 & 971 Dated 02-17-2025 with $0.00 Amounts - What Does This Mean for My Refund Timeline?

Just checked my transcript and saw these codes that are making me worried: ``` 570 Additional account action pending 02-18-2025 $0.00 971 Notice issued 02-18-2025 $0.00 This Product Contains Sensitive Taxpayer Data ``` I'm really worried about my refund timing since WMR is still showing the PATH message. Anyone know what this means for my refund timeline? The transcript shows these codes on the same day which has me concerned. Both entries show $0.00 amounts next to them, and I'm trying to figure out if having these codes appear together is normal or if it's going to delay my refund significantly. Does code 570 "Additional account action pending" always mean there's a problem with my return? And what kind of notice does code 971 usually refer to? Will I be getting something in the mail explaining what's happening with my refund? I was counting on getting my refund soon, and now I'm not sure if these codes mean I'll be waiting much longer. Has anyone else had both of these codes appear on their transcript at the same time with $0.00 amounts?

These transcript codes indicate your return is under standard PATH Act processing. The 570 code (Additional account action pending) dated 02-17-2025 shows a temporary hold on your account, while the 971 code from the same date indicates the IRS is sending you a notice about your return status. The $0.00 amounts shown with both codes are normal and don't represent any tax adjustments. When these codes appear together with the same date, it typically means your return is going through mandatory EITC verification under the PATH Act. This is a standard security measure - the IRS cannot release refunds claiming Earned Income Tax Credit before February 15th by law. Most returns with these codes resolve within 21 days after February 15th. The fact that both codes are dated 02-17-2025 suggests you're in the normal processing timeline for PATH Act returns. The notice you'll receive (indicated by code 971) will explain the temporary hold and verification process. There's no need for additional action on your part unless the notice specifically requests it.

Based on previous years, many PATH Act returns start moving within 7-10 days after the Feb 15th date. Keep an eye on your transcript for an 846 code!
