IRS 4883c Letter Verification: How long for callback? Need help ASAP
Hey everyone, I'm trying to get my 4883c letter verified. I called the IRS but didn't get through. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to call back? I'm getting anxious about this whole process.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been trying to get through to the IRS for weeks now. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to reach a human being. π€¬

Same here! I swear they must have like 2 people working the phones for the entire country π

Have you guys tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/bDXD2SD0gGk

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but honestly, after wasting hours trying to get through, it was worth every penny for me. Saved me so much time and frustration.

How long did it take for them to call you back using this service?

It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way better than trying to do it yourself tho

Pro tip: If you're calling about a 4883c letter, make sure you have ALL your documents ready before you get on the phone. They'll ask for a ton of info and if you're not prepared, you'll have to call back and go through the whole process again. Learn from my mistakes lol

Has anyone actually gotten their 4883c letter verified recently? I'm curious about the timeline once you finally get through to someone.

I got mine verified last month. Took about 3 weeks after I spoke with someone for everything to be processed and finalized.

Here's what I've learned about the 4883c letter verification process after going through it myself: β’ First, make sure you have the letter in front of you when you call. They'll ask for specific info from it. β’ Have your most recent tax return handy, as well as any other tax documents they might request. β’ Be prepared to verify your identity. They'll ask questions about your past addresses, employers, etc. β’ If you filed jointly, both you and your spouse may need to be on the call. β’ The actual verification process, once you get someone on the phone, usually takes about 15-30 minutes. β’ After verification, it can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks for your account to be fully processed. β’ If you don't hear anything after 6 weeks, call back. Hope this helps someone! It's a pain, but hang in there. πͺ

Quick question - do you know if this process is the same for amended returns?

Not 100% sure about amended returns, but I think the process is similar. Might want to double-check on the IRS website tho

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to verify our own identity? The system is broken af π€
