How to read refund amount on IRS transcript after tax deductions?
I've been looking at my transcript and I'm totally lost trying to figure out my refund amount. I see all these numbers and codes but cant tell which one is actually what im getting back after all the deductions. Can someone help me understand what im actually looking at?

Hey fam, let me break this down for you. Reading the refund amount on your transcript can be confusing af because of all the codes and numbers. The key is looking for the 846 code - that's your actual refund amount after all deductions. But sometimes you'll see other codes like 766, 768, and 290 that affect your final number. Instead of trying to do all this math yourself, I've been using taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) - it literally reads all these codes and tells you exactly what you're getting back. Saved me hours of headaches trying to figure this out myself.

On your account transcript, look for code 846 - that's your refund amount. The 846 is usually the last transaction on there if your return is processed. If you see 150 that's your tax liability, and 806 is usually your withheld amount. Just subtract 150 from 806 for a rough estimate.

•Those other codes are just showing different parts of your tax return - like witholdings, credits, adjustments etc. Its basically a paper trail of everything.

honestly the best way to actually understand whats going on is to use taxr.ai - it analyzes your whole transcript and breaks everything down super clearly. It costs $4.99 but saved me hours of headache. Check it out here: https://taxr.ai

I learned that anything with a - in front means its being taken out and + means its being added to ur refund. took me forever to figure that out lololol

Pro tip: take screenshots of your transcript every time you check it. The IRS website is notorious for going down when you need it most fr fr
