How to check if IRS is offsetting my refund from transcript codes?

I looked at my transcripts and I'm confused about all these numbers and codes. How can I tell if they're gonna take money from my refund? Trying to figure out if I'll get the full amount or if they're gonna take some for old debts.

The main codes to look for are 898 for offset and 776 for debt indicator. If you see these on your account transcript, it means some of your refund might be taken for outstanding debts like student loans, child support, or previous tax debt.

971 is just a notice being sent to you. Could be about anything tbh. Not necessarily bad news.

Just tried taxr.ai for this exact problem! Uploaded my transcript and it showed me exactly what was getting offset and why. Worth the $4.99 instead of trying to decode everything yourself. https://taxr.ai
