How to find Return Received Date on IRS Transcript - Help Reading Codes
I've been staring at my transcript trying to find when my return was received by the IRS. I see all these codes but im totally lost. Can someone help me figure out where to look? Im trying to figure out if my return is even being processed yet.

On your transcript, look for Transaction Code 150. This shows when your return was processed and entered into the IRS system. The date next to this code is your official return posting date. You might also see Code 971 which can indicate when they first received it.

•If you don't see TC 150, your return hasn't been processed yet. Keep checking weekly for updates.

I was in the same boat trying to decode my transcript like a detective lol. Found this tool called taxr.ai that actually reads your transcript and tells you exactly when it was received plus what stage its in. Only costs a buck but saved me hours of googling codes. https://taxr.ai

•Yeah its legit! Just upload your transcript and it breaks everything down in plain english. Shows all important dates and even predicts refund timing

You can also check your Where's My Refund tool, sometimes that shows the received date before transcript updates

Check for code 846 too - that's your refund date if approved. Also look at the cycle date (top right) which can give you clues about processing timeline. If you see any 570 or 971 codes those might indicate holds or additional review needed. The transcript can be confusing but those are the key codes to focus on!
