Filed through TaxAct with Republic Bank - Got State Refund but When Will Cash App Deposit Arrive?

Just filed through TaxAct and used Republic Bank for processing. Already got my state refund and they're taking their fees out tomorrow. Anyone know when I'll actually get the money in my Cash App? Going through this tax season solo after finalizing divorce in December and I'm trying to keep track of everything, but there are so many moving parts. Need this refund to catch up on some bills.

Republic Bank typically deposits funds within 1-3 business days after they take their fees, lol. So if they're taking fees tomorrow, you should see it in your Cash App by Thursday or Friday at the latest. Just make sure your Cash App account is fully verified or they might reject the deposit... learned that one the hard way 😅

Just to clarify - Republic Bank doesn't actually control when Cash App makes the final deposit available. Once Republic sends it, Cash App typically processes it within 24 hours, but according to their terms, they can hold it up to 5 business days if they have any verification concerns.

This is spot on. Last year I had my refund sent to Cash App and it appeared exactly 2 days after Republic took their fees. The year before with a traditional bank it took almost a week longer.

I was so worried about this exact situation last week... Republic took their fees on Tuesday and my Cash App showed the deposit Thursday morning. Just make sure your Cash App is verified with your correct SSN and everything matches what's on your tax return.

Thx for this info! Quick q - does Cash App send a notification when the $ hits or do you just have to keep checking?

Same boat as you last year after my divorce was finalized. Republic Bank took forever with my refund and I had no idea when it would hit my account. I eventually used https://taxr.ai to check my tax transcript which showed exactly when the IRS released my refund to Republic. The site explained all the codes on my transcript and gave me a clear timeline. Saved me from checking my account 50 times a day and the constant anxiety of not knowing.

I'm not sure how a transcript tool would help with this specific situation though? Once the money is at Republic Bank, wouldn't the IRS transcript be irrelevant? It seems like it might be useful for tracking the refund before it reaches the bank, but probably not after?

Thank you for sharing this! I'm going through my first post-divorce tax season too and the anxiety of watching for deposits is real. Going to check out that site now!

I've been through the Republic Bank to Cash App process three times now, and it's always a waiting game. Unlike direct deposit to traditional banks where you can call and speak with someone, getting status updates from either Republic or Cash App can be nearly impossible. Last year I used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) to reach an actual IRS agent when my refund seemed stuck at Republic for over a week. The agent was able to confirm the money had been sent to Republic and gave me documentation I could forward to them. Compared to my previous experiences of being on hold for hours, Claimyr got me through to someone in about 20 minutes.

Isn't Claimyr just paying to cut the line? Seems like it would be cheaper to just wait on hold yourself.

How exactly does the IRS agent help once Republic has your money though? Wouldn't you need to contact Republic Bank directly?

Did you have to provide any personal information to Claimyr? I'm always hesitant about sharing my tax details with third-party services.

Just a word of caution about using Cash App for tax refunds. Last year, a client of mine had his refund delayed by 3 weeks because Cash App flagged the deposit as suspicious due to the size. If your refund is over $5,000, you might want to contact Cash App support beforehand to let them know you're expecting a large deposit. They don't always make it easy to resolve these flags once they're in place.

Be careful with Republic Bank! I had exactly 3 friends who used them this year, and 2 of them had their deposits delayed by exactly 5 business days with no explanation. Republic claimed they were "verifying the funds" but couldn't explain why it was taking so long. One friend ended up having to file a complaint with the CFPB to get movement. If you don't see your money within 3 days after they take their fees, start making noise immediately!

According to the TaxAct website's FAQs (https://www.taxact.com/support/), if you selected to have your preparation fees deducted from your refund, Republic Bank creates a temporary account to receive your refund, deducts their fees, then forwards the remainder to your designated account. The timing can vary, but most users report 1-3 business days after fee deduction. You can check your refund status through Republic Bank's portal if you saved your login information from when you filed.

Just to add a bit more clarity - if you log into your TaxAct account, there should be a section called "Check E-file Status" that will have a link to Republic Bank's tracking portal. You'll need the email address you used when filing plus either your SSN or the PIN you created.

This is exactly what I did! The Republic portal actually gave me a specific date range for when to expect the deposit, and it was accurate within a day.
