Filed Taxes Yesterday - Low Income with Child and EIC - Advance Approved
Just an update. Filed my taxes yesterday with my tax preparer. Low income, child and EIC. Got approved for tax advance (First Century Bank). Advance coming tomorrow. Got more than 66% of my return. Hope everyone has a smooth season. Checking if IRS accepted yet because yesterday Santa Barbara and IRS said my info was wrong.

That's SUCH a relief you got approved for the advance! I've been dealing with the "info wrong" message too and it's driving me CRAZY! 😤 Usually means the system is just catching up with your filing. The Santa Barbara TPG system can take 24-48 hours to sync with IRS data after submission. So happy you're getting your money soon though! That advance percentage is actually really good compared to what most places offer.

Wow, didn't know advances could go that high tbh! Most places I've seen cap at like 50%. Thx for pointing that out about the sync time - was freaking out when I got that same error msg yesterday.

I had this exact issue last year. The IRS Where's My Refund tool showed nothing but the SBTPG portal kept saying incorrect info. According to the IRS website FAQ section, this happens when the transmission is still being processed in their initial verification system. Mine suddenly started working on day 3.

I got a similar advance last year. Did you have to pay any fees for the advance? In my experience, they took about $75 for a $1500 advance, which wasn't terrible considering I needed the money right away for car repairs.

Based on your submission timeline, you're experiencing a standard IRS Acceptance Queue delay. The e-file Acknowledgment system typically processes returns within 24-72 hours during peak filing periods. The "incorrect information" error is actually Status Code 1121, which indicates pending validation rather than actual errors. I had this identical situation with my EIC filing last year and used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript once it appeared. The platform identified the exact processing stage and predicted my DDD (Direct Deposit Date) with remarkable accuracy. The validation delay resolved itself without any intervention required.

Isn't that just telling you what you can see yourself on the transcript? Why pay for something when the IRS gives you the same info for free?

How does taxr.ai compare to just calling the IRS directly? I spent 3 hours on hold last year just to get basic information about my return status.

I need to check this out ASAP! My transcript has 4 different codes on it right now and I have absolutely no idea what they mean or when I'll get my refund. Last year I waited 8 weeks because of a simple verification issue I didn't know about!

The Path Act verification process causes these delays specifically for EIC and ACTC claims. Your return gets routed through the Income Verification program which creates that initial rejection message. I experienced this exact scenario during the 2023 filing season.

Back in 2022, I had the same "wrong info" message for almost 5 days before my return was accepted. This is completely normal, especially with credits like EIC. The system is just catching up. If you do need to speak with someone at the IRS to confirm everything's on track (which I eventually did), I'd recommend using Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c). After spending days trying to get through the IRS phone system last year, Claimyr connected me with an agent in about 30 minutes who confirmed my return was processing normally despite the error messages.

I would suggest checking your return acceptance status through a different method than the Santa Barbara site. The IRS Where's My Refund tool might not show anything yet, but you could potentially check your tax preparer's client portal if they offer one. Sometimes the preparer's systems will show acceptance before the public-facing tools update. Additionally, be aware that returns with refund advances occasionally require additional processing time due to the third-party financial institution involvement.

Thanks for this. Will check with preparer. Didn't think of that.

Do you know if checking too often can cause problems? I've been refreshing the WMR page like every hour since I filed yesterday.

The "info wrong" message is like a traffic jam on the information highway - your return is in the system but hasn't reached the right destination yet. This typically resolves within 72 hours for most filers. I'd recommend checking both the IRS2Go app AND the online Where's My Refund tool tomorrow morning. Sometimes one updates before the other, like having two different weather apps that don't quite sync up. Since you've already been approved for the advance, your return has passed the basic verification checks by the tax preparer's systems, which is a very good sign that there are no major issues with your filing.

I would perhaps suggest being somewhat cautious about tax advances in general, even though yours seems to have worked out well. They sometimes, though not always, come with fees that might reduce your overall refund amount. While it's certainly convenient to get money quickly, it's also worth considering whether waiting the additional time for the full refund might be more beneficial financially in certain situations. That said, I'm genuinely glad you were able to secure a relatively high percentage advance when you needed it.

I tracked exactly 143 returns last year as part of a research project. The "info wrong" message appeared for 37% of filers who submitted with EIC/CTC claims. Average resolution time was 43.2 hours from submission. First Century Bank typically processes advances in exactly 24-48 hours, so your timeline is perfectly normal. The 66% advance rate is actually 11% higher than the average I observed (55%). The Santa Barbara/IRS mismatch is frustrating but occurred in 29 of my tracked returns and resolved without intervention in all cases.

I experienced this mismatch last year too. My Santa Barbara portal showed "information doesn't match" for 3 days while the IRS was silently processing my return. Then suddenly everything updated at once and I got my advance the next day.

Did you notice any pattern between filing date and how long the mismatch lasted? I'm wondering if filing earlier in the season results in faster processing.

The community wisdom on this one is pretty clear - you're in the normal processing queue and everything sounds on track! We see these "wrong info" messages every tax season, especially in the first 72 hours after filing. Think of it as the IRS's computer system having its morning coffee before getting to work 😂. The fact you got approved for the advance is actually a good sign since they've verified your basic eligibility. Most folks here will tell you the same thing: give it 2-3 days before worrying. Your refund timeline for EIC/CTC is typically 21 days from acceptance (not submission), so mark your calendar from when you get that acceptance confirmation.

This happened to me last week. The error message disappeared after about 48 hours and then everything processed normally. Got my advance exactly as scheduled even with the initial error message.

Thanks for explaining this so clearly! The coffee analogy made me laugh and feel better about the wait.

Really appreciate the timeline breakdown. Makes the waiting game less stressful when you know what to expect.

Would this be different if you file by mail instead of electronically? I'm still waiting on my paper return from last year!

I filed on January 29th this year with almost the identical situation - EIC, child credit, and got a tax advance. Had the same "info wrong" message on January 30th. By February 1st, everything was showing correctly in the system. My advance hit on February 2nd as scheduled, and my full refund was deposited on February 19th. The timing worked out perfectly because I needed the advance for a security deposit on February 5th, and then used the full refund to pay off some bills. Just wanted to share a successful timeline to give you some peace of mind!
