Filed Jan 30th, Rejected Feb 2nd, Refiled Immediately - STILL Not Accepted?!
I filed on January 30th, got rejected on February 2nd, and refiled RIGHT AFTER finding out!!! It's been over 2 weeks and I'm STILL waiting to get accepted!! 😤 This is our first time filing jointly as a married couple and I'm starting to get really worried. Is this normal?? Anyone else taking this long to even get ACCEPTED??? I'm trying to be patient but this is so frustrating!!!

I've seen this happening quite a bit this tax season. I filed on January 29th, got accepted on January 31st, but then my sister-in-law filed on February 3rd and didn't get accepted until February 12th. The IRS seems to be having serious backlogs right now. Did you get any specific rejection code on February 2nd? That might explain why the second submission is taking longer.

Same thing happened to me! Filed Jan 28, rejected Feb 1 for a stupid SSN mismatch (my bad). Fixed it and refiled Feb 1, but didn't get accepted until Feb 15. Tbh the IRS is super backed up rn. Hang in there, the acceptance should come thru soon. Btw check ur email spam folder - my acceptance notice went there for some reason.

Did you end up getting your refund in a reasonable timeframe after that delay? Or does a rejection/resubmission put you at the back of the line for everything?

Good call on checking the spam folder! I once missed an important IRS notice because it got filtered. Amazing how the most important emails always find their way to spam while the "extend your car warranty" ones make it to the inbox every time 😂

I've been through exactly 3 rejections this season before my return was finally accepted. It took precisely 17 days from my first submission to final acceptance. I understand how frustrating the waiting can be, especially when you're newly married and filing jointly for the first time. If you need to speak with an actual IRS agent about your specific situation, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (https://www.claimyr.com). They got me connected to an IRS representative in exactly 28 minutes when I was desperately trying to figure out why my returns kept getting rejected. The agent was able to tell me exactly what was wrong with my submission.

Is this service legitimate? I'm concerned about providing personal information to third-party services claiming IRS connections. Has anyone verified their security protocols?

I'm curious about how this works. Does Claimyr actually connect you directly to the IRS phone system, or do they have their own representatives who then contact the IRS? And what happens if there's still no resolution after using their service?

This tax season is like trying to board a crowded subway during rush hour - some people squeeze in right away while others are left waiting for the next train. My return was rejected twice because my W-2 information didn't match what my employer reported. Turns out my employer made a typo on their end! It took almost 3 weeks from my initial filing to finally getting accepted. Double-check that all your information matches exactly what's on your official documents.

Be careful about checking too often! According to the IRS.gov FAQ page (https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions), constantly checking won't speed up processing and might actually flag your account for potential fraud. I'd recommend checking your filing status through your tax software rather than the IRS site directly. Also watch out for scam emails claiming to be about your refund - the IRS won't email you about this.

I had almost the exact same situation but found a solution! Filed Jan 28th, rejected Feb 1st, refiled Feb 2nd. After 10 days of nothing, I contacted my tax preparer who suggested I check my return for common errors. Did you verify that your AGI from last year matches exactly what the IRS has on file? Did you double-check that your names match your social security cards exactly? What about your bank account info for direct deposit?

I'm probably just being paranoid, but I waited about 14 days for acceptance after resubmitting my rejected return. It seems like the IRS might be doing somewhat more thorough checks on resubmitted returns, especially for newly married couples filing jointly for the first time. There's possibly a verification process that happens behind the scenes that we don't see. In my case, everything worked out fine eventually, though the waiting was definitely stressful.
