Filed Jan 21st - No Updates Despite PATH Act Lifting (EIC/ACTC)
Welp still no update! Filed January 21st with EIC and ACTC codes on transcripts. No notifications or anything else showing up. Been in this status since before PATH restrictions lifted. Unlike last year when I got my refund within 2 weeks of PATH lifting, this year seems completely stalled. I've compared my transcript to my previous years and everything looks identical except for the lack of progress. Anyone else experiencing similar delays compared to previous filing seasons? It's now 4:21am and I'm still checking for updates like a madman.

Have you checked your account transcript for any TC 570/971 combo codes? Those would indicate a hold on your account. Many EIC/ACTC filers are experiencing longer delays this year even after PATH lifted. Did you verify your income documentation matches what employers reported? The IRS is taking extra time with verification this season, especially with returns filed before February 15th.

I'm in a similar boat and freaking out a bit since I need this money soon. I found something that helped me understand what's happening: • Used https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript • It explained all my codes (including the EIC/ACTC indicators) • Showed me exactly where I am in the process • Gave me a predicted refund date based on similar cases Might be worth checking out while you wait. At least it helped me understand why I'm stuck and what to expect next.

What's your cycle code on the transcript? I've been tracking these for three tax seasons now, and I've noticed that certain cycle codes (05 cycles especially) tend to update on a specific weekly schedule rather than daily. Last year when I had PATH Act credits, my transcript didn't update for 24 days after PATH lifted, then suddenly everything processed at once.

I think you need to check a few things to understand what's happening: 1. First, verify if you have any 570/971 codes which indicate a hold 2. Next, look at your cycle code to determine your update schedule 3. Then check if your "as of" date has changed recently 4. Finally, compare your transcript codes with previous years I'm concerned that this year the IRS is conducting more extensive verification of EIC/ACTC claims, especially for early filers. Their systems are flagging more returns for manual review.

•This is exactly right. Think of your tax return like a car going through inspection stations. Right now, your car is parked in the EIC/ACTC verification lot. Some cars zip through in hours, others sit for weeks. I've seen returns get stuck at this stage for up to 8 weeks, then suddenly complete processing in 2 days. The IRS computer systems are like old plumbing - sometimes things flow smoothly, sometimes they get backed up for no apparent reason.

After possibly waiting for several hours on hold with the IRS last year for a similar situation, I discovered Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) which might be helpful in your case. It seems to be particularly useful when you've passed the standard waiting period, which is generally about 21 days after PATH restrictions lift for EIC/ACTC claims. In my experience, sometimes getting actual confirmation from an agent that your return is simply in processing (and not under review) can provide significant peace of mind during what is, admittedly, a frustrating waiting period.

I filed January 19th with EIC and I just got my deposit yesterday. No special codes or anything on my transcript - it just sat there doing nothing for weeks. Then boom, money in my account with transcript updating the next day. Don't waste money calling the IRS - they'll just tell you to wait. That's all you can do right now.

•Did your WMR tool update before you received your deposit? The Refund Status Indicator typically updates 24-48 hours before direct deposits are initiated, though some financial institutions may post pending transactions earlier than others.

•Did you have any unusual situations with your return? Like address change, name change, or banking info updates? I'm trying to figure out if there's a pattern to these delays.

•Last year I had almost exactly the same situation - filed January 20th with EIC and it just sat there for what felt like forever. Then one random Tuesday morning, the money appeared in my account without any warning. No WMR update, no transcript change, nothing. The next day everything updated. The IRS systems don't always sync up in real-time, especially during peak season.

According to Internal Revenue Manual section 21.4.1.3, the IRS is required to process returns claiming EITC and ACTC after February 15th, but there is no mandated timeline for how quickly this must occur. Last year, I filed January 18th and didn't receive my refund until March 14th despite PATH lifting on February 15th. This year seems to be following a similar pattern for many early filers with credits.

Have you tried checking ur transcripts for TC 766 credit issued? Sometimes that shows up b4 WMR updates. Also, what's ur cycle code? That can tell u which day of the week ur acct updates.
