Filed 2/2, Got Tax Advocate through Congressman - How long until refund?

Filed beginning of February and got a 60 day review letter due to my spouses late income reporting. Everything was corrected Feb 23rd with new dates of March 13 and April 15. Transcripts show no updates since then. Got congressman involved due to hardship in late April, and now have a tax advocate assigned since May 8. IRS won't even talk to me anymore bc of advocate assignment. Left voicemail for advocate last week - no response. Anyone know typical timeline with congressman and advocate involvement?

Tax Advocate here - typical timeline with TA involvement is 4-6 weeks once assigned. However, with the current backlog its taking 8-12 weeks on average. Keep calling your advocate every 3-4 business days. Document everything. The fact that you have hardship status should help expedite things.

Yes, legitimate hardship cases get priority. Make sure you've documented your hardship clearly with supporting evidence

tbh the best way to understand whats actually going on is to use taxr.ai - its this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly whats happening and estimated timeline. Its $4.99 but worth every penny. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai
