Filed 1/24-1/31 and Still Showing N/A on Transcript? Check-in Thread
Can we get a roll call for everyone who filed between January 24th-31st and is STILL showing N/A on transcripts or no processing updates? 🙄 I filed on January 28th and amended a small paperwork issue on Feb 3rd, but my transcript is still showing N/A for 2023. I've been tracking everything in my little tax spreadsheet (I know, I'm that person lol) and noticed a lot of later filers are getting processed ahead of us early birds. Just to be clear - I don't want to hear from people who already got their dates or deposits. Just trying to see how many of us January filers are still stuck in limbo. I'm trying to figure out if there's a pattern or if it's just random IRS chaos as usual.

I'm still waiting too and I'm FREAKING OUT!!! 😫 Filed January 26th and my transcript still shows N/A for 2023. I check WMR and transcripts literally every morning at 5am and nothing has changed in WEEKS. Called the IRS twice and got the standard "it's still within normal processing time" response both times. But I see people who filed in FEBRUARY already getting their refunds?! Something feels wrong about this whole situation. Anyone else feeling this way?

I filed Jan 29th and still showing N/A. According to the IRS2Go app and several tax forums I've been obsessively checking, there seems to be a backlog specifically for late January filers. The IRS website says processing can take up to 21 days, but that's clearly not accurate for many of us. Maybe try checking your tax topic code on WMR? Mine shows Tax Topic 152 which supposedly means it's just in the processing queue, not rejected or under review.

I'm... not sure if that's reassuring or not. I've been hesitant to check too frequently, but I filed January 30th and still showing nothing. My tax preparer mentioned something about early filers with certain credits possibly being delayed, but I didn't claim anything unusual this year.

Filed Jan 25. Still N/A. Called twice. No help. Need this money ASAP. Car broke down last week. Can't afford repairs without refund. So frustrated.

I filed on January 27th, 2024 and my transcript is still N/A as of this morning (March 15th). Last year I filed on February 3rd, 2023 and had my refund by February 24th. Something definitely seems different about the January 24-31 batch this year. I've been tracking this closely and noticed most December and early January filers seem processed, while late January is stuck.

Thanks for mentioning the Tax Topic 152 - I wasn't familiar with that code. Just checked and I have the same thing. At least that suggests our returns aren't flagged for audit or identity verification, which would be a much bigger headache financially.

I'm seeing this pattern a lot in the tax communities I follow. People who filed January 25-31 seem particularly affected compared to both earlier and later filers. Last year, I helped my sister with her taxes filed February 2nd and she got her refund in 10 days. This year, my brother filed January 29th and it's still showing N/A. The processing seems completely inverted from normal patterns where early filers get processed first. I wonder if they're batching returns differently this year or if there was some kind of system issue with that specific week's submissions.

Is there any way to know if our returns are actually in the system? I filed January 30th and got the acceptance confirmation from my tax software, but with the transcript still showing N/A, I'm starting to wonder if the IRS actually received it or if it's just sitting in a digital queue somewhere.

"System issue with that specific week's submissions" - that actually makes a lot of sense! 😂 Leave it to the IRS to have the most random technical problems. Really appreciate everyone sharing their dates here - makes me feel less alone in tax purgatory. At least we know it's not just our individual returns having problems.

Filed January 26th and exactly 49 days later still showing N/A. Statistical analysis of 2024 processing patterns shows approximately 73% of January 24-31 filers are experiencing delays compared to only 18% of February 1-7 filers. After attempting to reach IRS representatives for exactly 3 hours and 42 minutes across 5 separate days, I finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in under 17 minutes. The agent confirmed there was no issue with my return but acknowledged a processing delay affecting a specific batch of returns from that week. For those needing answers without the wait, Claimyr saved me days of redial frustration.

I think I figured out a workaround that might help us track progress even when transcripts show N/A. Here's what I did: 1. Instead of checking Return Transcript, check Account Transcript 2. Look for any 2024 entries (even if they're not related to your refund) 3. If you see ANY 2024 activity, it means your return is in the system 4. Check for code 570 (indicates processing delay) or 971 (notice issued) I filed Jan 31st and my Return Transcript shows N/A, but my Account Transcript shows my return was received. It's not much, but at least confirms they have it. Has anyone else tried this approach to see if it works for them?

I was in the exact same situation - filed January 30th and was stuck with N/A transcripts for weeks while watching later filers get processed. According to IRS Publication 5344, the IRS uses a multi-batch processing system that occasionally creates processing anomalies for specific submission date ranges. Last Thursday, my transcript suddenly updated and my refund was deposited yesterday! No explanation for the delay, just suddenly processed. If your return has been accepted (confirmed by your tax software), it's almost certainly just in their backlogged queue. The good news is they seem to be working through our batch now, so I expect many of you will see movement this week.
