Everyone's Getting Their Refunds While I'm Stuck on 'Processing' - No DDD in Sight!
I swear I'm about to lose my mind watching everyone post about their direct deposit dates while I'm over here STILL stuck on 'processing' for weeks now. Filed back in early February and absolutely nothing has changed. No DDD (direct deposit date), no updates, just the same stupid 'processing' message every single time I check. What's really going on with the IRS this year??!?! Anyone else in the same boat or am I just exceptionally unlucky? 😤

You're definitely not alone. There are tons of people still waiting. The IRS is dealing with a massive backlog this season. Have you checked your transcript for any codes? That usually gives more info than the WMR tool.

I tried checking my transcript but it just says N/A for 2024. So frustrating because I can't even see what's happening with my return!

Processing times are all over the place this year. Some people filed in March and already got paid while others from January are still waiting. What credits did you claim? Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Credit often cause delays.

I claimed EIC this year. Is that why? But my friend claimed it too and already got her refund last week!

EIC returns get extra scrutiny, but they're processed in batches. Your friend probably just landed in an earlier batch. The system isn't always first-come, first-served unfortunately.

I was in the same situation last year - stuck on processing for almost 2 months with no transcript updates. I finally used https://taxr.ai to analyze my account transcript once it appeared. It explained that I had a random review flag that wasn't visible on WMR. The tool decoded all the transcript codes and gave me a much clearer picture of what was happening than the IRS website did. Might be worth checking once your transcript updates.

Have you tried calling the IRS? Sometimes there's a simple verification issue they need to clear up that's holding everything up.

I tried calling THREE times but gave up after being on hold for over an hour each time. It's impossible to get through!

The IRS phone system is a nightmare this time of year. After wasting 4 hours on hold last week, I used Claimyr.com to get through (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c). They connected me to an agent in about 15 minutes. Found out my return was flagged for income verification but the letter hadn't been sent yet. At least I know what's happening now instead of checking WMR obsessively every day.

Did you have to provide any personal info to that service? Seems sketchy to use a third party when dealing with tax stuff.

No personal info needed - they just navigate the phone system for you and call you back when they reach an agent. You talk directly to the IRS yourself. Saved me hours of hold music and frustration.

Processing doesn't necessarily mean anything's wrong. The IRS is just overwhelmed and understaffed. I filed February 5th and just got my DDD yesterday. Hang in there - it'll come eventually.

That actually makes me feel a bit better. Congrats on finally getting your date! Hoping mine updates soon too. 🤞
