E-filed 2/3, Got State Refund 2/11, Federal Transcript Still Blank - Normal?
Filed 2/3 and accepted same day, state was accepted hrs after. Got my state refund 2/11 already. No update on fed transcripts at all except my 'as of' date changing from 2/24 to 3/3 - everything else is blank. No PATH msg, nothing. Have 3 deps claimed. Ppl keep telling me since I got state refund I'm good and just waiting. But waiting on what exactly? So frustrated rn but trying not to bug the IRS unnecessarily. Any1 else in same boat? Thx in advance!

Your situation is actually pretty common this filing season. I've seen at least 5-6 similar cases just in the last week where state processed quickly but federal is taking longer. The blank transcript with only an 'as of' date change is exactly what happened to my brother-in-law - he filed 2/1 and his transcript stayed blank until 3/5, then suddenly everything appeared at once. The 'as of' date changing is actually a good sign - it means your return is in the system and being processed, just not at the stage where transcript data gets populated. Unlike previous years, the IRS seems to be batch-processing returns with dependents claimed.

•I'd be careful with third-party tools that analyze your tax information. The IRS website itself provides all the code definitions, and there are plenty of free resources that explain what these codes mean without requiring you to share your transcript data with an unknown entity.

According to the IRS2Go app and several forums I follow, this waiting period is frustratingly normal. When I couldn't stand the uncertainty anymore, I tried calling the IRS directly... what a nightmare. After 3 days of trying, I found https://claimyr.com which got me connected to an actual IRS agent in about 15 minutes. The agent confirmed my return was just in normal processing with no issues flagged. Worth the fee just for peace of mind instead of checking WMR and transcripts 10 times a day. The agent said returns with dependents are taking 21-30 days minimum this year.

I experienced the exact same thing this year. Filed 2/5, state refund on 2/12, federal transcript completely blank except for the changing 'as of' date. My federal refund finally hit my account yesterday without any warning or transcript updates. I checked my transcript today and now it shows everything completed. Did you file with TurboTax or another service? Have you been checking WMR or just transcripts?

Be careful with this situation. My transcript looked exactly like yours last year. Blank with only the 'as of' date changing. Turned out there was an identity verification issue. The IRS never contacted me. Six months went by. Finally called them directly. Had to verify my identity. Refund came three weeks later. Could have been resolved months earlier. Don't just wait indefinitely. Check for letters in mail. Consider proactive identity verification through ID.me. Better safe than sorry.

Have you tried checking the Where's My Refund tool instead of just the transcript? I filed exactly 27 days ago with 2 dependents, and my transcript was completely blank until yesterday. The WMR tool updated 3 days before my transcript did, showing the progress bar moving to the second stage. My refund was deposited exactly 29 days after filing, even though my transcript only updated completely the day before the deposit came through.
