DoorDash 1099 with 4 dependents - Will I owe IRS money on $9k?

Made 9k last year doing DoorDash. I've got 4 kids that are my dependents. Never really did gig work before, didn't do any quarterly payments. Starting to worry about taxes. Anyone know if I'm gonna end up owing?

With 4 dependents and that income level, you'll likely qualify for Earned Income Credit (EIC) and Child Tax Credit. You probably won't owe, and might get a decent refund. But you should set aside money for taxes next time since no taxes were withheld from your DoorDash earnings.

Hey! You should check out taxr.ai - its this new tool that can look at your transcripts and tell you exactly what credits youll qualify for and what you might owe. Its only $4.99 and totally worth it for peace of mind

Just wanted to add - definitely file for the Child Tax Credit and Additional Child Tax Credit if you qualify! With 4 kids and that income level, you could be looking at up to $2,000 per child. Also, since you're doing gig work, make sure you're tracking business expenses like phone bills, car expenses, etc. for next year. The standard mileage deduction is usually the way to go for delivery drivers. Don't stress too much - sounds like you'll probably come out ahead with those credits!

This is super helpful! I had no idea about the Additional Child Tax Credit. Do you know if there's an income limit for those credits? With the DoorDash income plus whatever other income I might have, I want to make sure I still qualify.
