Do IRS cycle codes change each tax year or stay the same?
I need help understanding cycle codes. Been checking my transcripts for my 2023 return and noticed my cycle code is different from last year. Is this normal or did something go wrong with my return?

Your cycle code can change year to year. It's based on when the IRS processes your return and which processing center handles it. The first two digits show which processing center, and the last two indicate the day of the week. Don't worry if it's different - totally normal!

Hey, if you want to really understand what's going on with your transcript, check out taxr.ai - it's this new tool that breaks down everything including cycle codes. It's only $1 and WAY better than trying to piece everything together yourself. I use it for all my clients now https://taxr.ai
