Cycle Code 1005 on Transcript - Return Says 'No Tax Return Filed' Despite Acceptance on 2/7

I'm trying to understand what's happening with my tax return this year. Here's what I've done so far: 1. Prepared my return using professional software (checked all calculations twice) 2. E-filed on February 7th and received acceptance confirmation same day 3. Checked WMR tool which shows 'Return Received' status 4. Pulled my transcript today and noticed cycle code 1005 5. Strangely, transcript indicates 'No tax return filed' despite being accepted almost 8 weeks ago I'm a bit confused because my expected refund is substantial (higher income bracket with significant itemized deductions). Has anyone experienced cycle code 1005 last year or this filing season? What does this typically indicate about processing timelines?

I had the exact same issue last year! Here's what I learned: • Cycle code 1005 means your return is processed on Thursdays (10 = Thursday, 05 = weekly cycle) • "No tax return filed" message is misleading - it actually means your return is in processing queue • This is happening to MANY people this year due to IRS backlog • Most returns with this code update within 21 days but some are taking 30+ days • If you claimed certain credits (CTC/EITC) expect additional delays I'm concerned this might affect your planning if you're counting on that refund soon...

I believe there might be a bit more to it... From what I understand, cycle code 1005 could also indicate your return was flagged for manual review. This doesn't necessarily mean an audit, just that someone needs to look at something specific. It might be worth checking if you have any unusual deductions or credits that could trigger this.

This is way more informative than what I got from the IRS rep! My situation last year was similar but with code 1505, and it took exactly 35 days from acceptance to deposit. Compared to your explanation about cycle codes, this makes so much more sense - Thursday processing explains why I always saw updates on Friday mornings.

Did you verify that your AGI from last year was entered correctly? The Processing Exception Code (PEC) associated with cycle 1005 sometimes indicates identity verification requirements. Have you received any correspondence via USPS requesting additional documentation?

I'm curious about this too. According to IRM 3.12.3-5 (Internal Revenue Manual), returns with specific verification requirements get assigned to weekly processing cycles. My transcript showed cycle code 1005 after I had to verify my identity through ID.me last year. OP, check your mailbox carefully - notices often arrive weeks after the system flags your return.

I had something similar happen to me last year. My return was accepted on February 10th, but my transcript showed "no return filed" until mid-March. I was really worried because I had some complicated investments and a home office deduction. In my case, it suddenly updated one day with all my information and I received my refund about a week later. It's nerve-wracking when you've done everything right and still see messages like that!

Dealing w/ this exact issue rn. Transcript says nothing filed but WMR shows received. Called IRS 11x over 3 days - impossible to get thru. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in 20 mins. Agent confirmed return is in processing queue but flagged for review bc of some schedule C items. Nothing to worry about but wouldn't have known w/out talking to someone. Worth the fee to save hrs of redial hell tbh.

Have you checked if you have any notices in your online account? I've seen this happen before where the transcript shows no return filed but there's actually a notice explaining why. Back in 2022, I had a client with this exact scenario and it turned out there was an identity verification requirement that wasn't obvious from just looking at the transcript.

I had cycle code 1005 last year and eventually got my refund without any issues! It took exactly 28 days from acceptance to deposit. The transcript showed "no return filed" for about 3 weeks, then suddenly updated with all my information. Are you seeing any other codes on your transcript? Do you have access to your account transcript as well as return transcript?

I'm going through something similar and would like to know more about your experience. Can you explain exactly what happened after your transcript updated? Did you get any notices? Did your WMR update first or did the transcript update first? I'm trying to understand the sequence of events so I can know what to expect.
