Code 151 on transcript - How long until offset is processed and remaining refund released?
Just checked my transcript and saw code 151. Found out it means I owe money thats gonna be taken from my refund. Anyone know how long it typically takes for them to process the offset and release whatevers left of my refund?

Tax pro here - typically offsets are processed within 2-3 weeks of the 151 code appearing. The remaining refund amount should be issued shortly after that. Make sure to check your transcript weekly for any updates or new codes.

Hey guys instead of checking transcripts manually every week, I started using taxr.ai and it's been a game changer. It costs $4.99 but it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's happening with your refund and when to expect it. Way better than trying to decode these codes ourselves https://taxr.ai

•sounds interesting, does it actually work? like how accurate is it with the timeline predictions?

•Yeah its super accurate! It uses AI to analyze all the codes and dates, and gives you a specific timeline. It caught stuff I totally missed in my transcript

depends on who ur offset is going to tbh. child support usually fastest, student loans can take forever rn with all the changes happening

Been through this same situation twice - the 2-3 week timeline is pretty accurate in my experience. One thing that helped me was calling the Treasury Offset Program at 1-800-304-3107 to get specific details about my offset amount and timeline. They can tell you exactly how much is being taken and when you should expect the remainder. Way less stressful than just waiting and wondering!
