Can I claim my 20-year-old college student as dependent when paying for student loans?
Got a question about claiming my kid on taxes. She was 20 last year and in college full time. I'm paying for her student loans and helping with all her college expenses. Can I claim her as a dependent?

Tax pro here! Yes, you can claim her as a dependent if she meets these requirements: she was a full-time student under 24, lived with you for more than half the year (dorms count!), and you provided more than half her support. Student loans in your name count as your support. Just make sure she's not claiming herself on her own return.
