Called IRS after 180 day review period - Agent says they messaged examiner to release funds

Finally got through to someone at the IRS today after my 180 day review period ended. No notices received in the mail at all during this time. The agent looked into my refund and said they sent a message to the examiner to either release my funds or contact me if they need additional information.

Tax advocate here. While its good you called, these 'messages to examiners' rarely get responses. Your best bet is to request a taxpayer advocate if you haven't already. The 180 day review should have concluded with either a notice or refund release.
