Anyone in Alabama (or elsewhere) receive paper refund checks dated for April 26?

Hey tax folks! Just wondering if anyone in Alabama or other states has gotten their paper refund checks that were supposed to be dated for April 26th? We filed jointly for the first time (newlywed tax benefits ftw 💍) and opted for paper check this year. WMR shows it was mailed, but our mailbox remains sadly empty. Anyone else playing the waiting game with me? Might have to start bribing our mail carrier with cookies if this keeps up! 😂

The IRS refund checks are like buses - they say they'll arrive at a certain time, but you might be waiting at the stop longer than expected. Mail delivery can take 5-10 business days after the scheduled date, especially with current postal service conditions. Have you checked your transcript to confirm the actual mail date? Sometimes what WMR shows and what actually happened can be different stories.

Is there a specific cycle code on the transcript that indicates when a paper check has actually been mailed versus just scheduled? I've heard cycle codes can tell you exactly where in the process your refund is.

I was LITERALLY in this exact situation last month!!! So frustrating waiting for that check to show up! 😫 After waiting 2 weeks past my mail date, I finally called the IRS using Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and got through in about 15 minutes! The agent confirmed my check was actually mailed 3 days AFTER the date WMR showed. It arrived 4 days after I called. Seriously saved me from checking my mailbox 5 times a day! Worth every penny for the peace of mind alone.

I'm in Georgia and was given April 26th as my mail date too. According to the IRS website (https://www.irs.gov/refunds/timing), paper checks can take 4-6 weeks to arrive after being mailed. My transcript shows code 846 with the 4/26 date, but I'm still waiting. Has anyone else from the southeast received theirs yet? Looking for some confirmation that they're actually moving through the system.

Got mine yesterday in Tennessee! Same mail date of 4/26. So they're definitely arriving in the southeast region.

I had a similar situation last year with a paper check. It showed a mail date of May 12th but didn't arrive until June 1st. I remember pacing by my mailbox every day like a hungry lion. The postal service seems to be taking longer with government mail these days - my state tax refund took almost 3 weeks to arrive after the mail date too!

Got mine in MS yesterday! Same 4/26 date. Took exactly 8 biz days. Def slower than DD but worth it for me bc my bank acct changed. Hang in there!

It might be worth noting that, in my experience, the IRS typically processes refunds in batches based on filing method, refund type, and regional service centers. Paper checks from the Southeast processing center might, potentially, be delivered on a slightly different schedule than other regions.

I was a bit nervous about my paper check too... I used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it showed me exactly what was happening with my refund. It explained that code 846 with the date means the check was scheduled for mailing on that date, but actual mail time varies. The site helped me understand all those confusing codes on my transcript and gave me peace of mind that everything was proceeding normally. Maybe worth checking out if you're still wondering about your status.

Is taxr.ai actually reliable though? I've seen a lot of these transcript analysis tools pop up lately and I'm skeptical about how accurate they really are compared to just calling the IRS directly.

Word of caution about paper checks: I had one last year that never arrived. Here's what I had to do: 1. Wait 4 weeks from mail date (IRS requirement) 2. Call IRS to report non-receipt (waited 2 hours on hold) 3. Complete Form 3911 (Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund) 4. Wait another 6 weeks for them to trace the check 5. Finally received replacement check The entire process took almost 3 months. If you're approaching week 3 with no check, I'd recommend starting the process. The IRS won't begin a trace until at least 4 weeks have passed from the mail date.

Has anyone noticed if there's a difference in delivery times between states? I'm in Florida with an April 30th mail date, and I'm trying to figure out if I should expect it by next week or if I should be planning for a longer wait.
