Anyone Accepted February 13th and Sent to 'Errors' Department Get Their Refund Yet?

Has anybody who had their return accepted on Feb 13th and then got told it was in the mysterious "errors" department actually received their refund yet? I'm going on 8 weeks now and every time I call they just say it's "being processed" but can't tell me anything else. Starting to feel like I'm never gonna see my money ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

I was accepted on Feb 15th and also got the errors department line. Just got my direct deposit yesterday after 7 weeks of waiting. No explanation for what the "error" was, and my transcript just shows normal processing codes. The hold-up seems completely random this year.

Did you check your transcript? Sometimes there are codes that explain what's happening even when the phone reps won't tell you.

I tried but I can't get past the ID verification part to see my transcript. The IRS site keeps rejecting my credit card info even though it's correct ๐Ÿคฌ

I was in the exact same boat - accepted Feb 12th, errors dept, no information for 6 weeks. I finally used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript once I could access it. It explained that my return had a 570 code (temporary hold) followed by a 971 (notice issued) which meant they were verifying my W2 information. The site predicted my exact DDD three days before it showed up on WMR. Saved me so much anxiety knowing what was actually happening instead of the vague "errors department" explanation.

How exactly does this taxr thing work? Does it just read the codes that are already on the transcript? Couldn't you just Google what they mean?

It does way more than just read codes. It analyzes the pattern and timing of your specific codes together, explains what they mean for YOUR specific situation, and uses data from thousands of returns to predict accurate timeframes. Sure, you can Google "570 code" but that just gives you the generic definition. taxr.ai tells you what it means in context with your other codes and filing situation. Totally worth it for the peace of mind.

The "errors department" is just a catch-all term they use when your return gets flagged for manual review. Could be a simple math error, verification issue, or just random selection. I filed and was accepted Feb 10th, got the errors dept line when I called in March, finally received my refund April 18th. No explanation, no notice, money just appeared in my account.

I filed Jan 29th, accepted Feb 13th, and also got the errors department runaround. Spent THREE DAYS calling the IRS number and could never get through. Used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) after someone recommended it here, and got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. The agent was actually helpful and told me my return was flagged for income verification but was cleared last week. Got my refund 5 days after that call. Worth every penny to not waste days on hold.

Thanks for the tip! I'm going to try this tomorrow. Did they tell you specifically what the issue was or just that it was cleared?

The agent told me exactly which line item triggered the review (was a 1099 from a side gig that didn't match their records exactly). She also gave me the exact date it was cleared and when to expect my refund. Way more info than I ever got from previous calls.

The IRS is severely understaffed this year. I know someone who works there and they said returns with even minor discrepancies are getting kicked to the errors department automatically, and then it takes weeks for someone to look at them. If you claimed any credits like EIC or CTC, that can trigger extra scrutiny too.
