Think of SBTPG like that friend who borrows money but takes their sweet time paying you back. They've got your cash, they're just moving at their own pace. I was pulling my hair out with the same issue last week until I tried taxr.ai to check my transcript codes. Like using a translator for IRS hieroglyphics! It confirmed my money was actually released to SBTPG already, even though their site hadn't updated. If you're concerned about timing, you might want to check your transcript with it - sometimes the money is already in motion even when SBTPG's tracker is still showing nothing.
Got my refund thru SBTPG last wk! DDD was 3/8, SBTPG updated late night on 3/8, $ hit my acct early AM 3/9. Saved me $150 in overdraft fees I was about to get hit with lol. Their system is weird af but works eventually. Pro tip: if u have Cash App, sometimes it posts a day earlier than trad banks. That's what happened w/ mine - friends with same DDD but regular banks got theirs a day later.
This timing is exactly what happened with mine too! I was freaking out because I needed to pay rent, but the money showed up right on time. SBTPG is frustratingly slow to update their tracker though.
I'm in Arizona (Mesa area) and was in sort of a similar situation. I think the Phoenix service center might be a bit behind compared to other regions. My transcript finally updated yesterday with an 846 code after filing in February. The deposit date is set for August 10th, which I desperately need for some upcoming business expenses. If you're seeing a 570 code (additional account action pending) followed by a 971 (notice issued), it usually means they're reviewing something but it's probably not a serious issue. Just a heads up - Arizona seems to be running about 3-4 weeks behind the national average for processing times right now, at least based on what I'm seeing in local tax forums.
Based on my experience and what I've seen in this community, here's what you should know: ⢠The 570 code means additional account action pending - this is common and doesn't necessarily indicate a problem ⢠The 971 code means they sent you a notice - did you receive anything in the mail? ⢠Arizona processing does seem to be running behind other states this year ⢠The average wait time between 570/971 codes and the 846 deposit code is currently running 6-10 weeks ⢠Small business returns are taking longer across the board due to additional verification steps Hang in there - most returns with your code pattern do eventually process without requiring additional action.
Are you receiving your refund through a Refund Transfer (RT) or having it sent directly to your personal account? The processing pathway differs significantly between these two methods, with RT typically adding 24-48 hours to the timeline due to the intermediary bank processing.
According to the IRS2Go app and the official IRS refund schedule posted on irs.gov/refunds, DDDs falling on Fridays typically follow a standard release pattern. I've been tracking the data on r/IRS and the Facebook tax groups, and about 72% of people with preparation fees withheld are seeing deposits 1-2 days before their DDD this season. This is up from about 65% last year. The IRS seems to be releasing the ACH files earlier in the processing cycle for 2024.
I'm so relieved! Just got my deposit at 2:17pm today even though my DDD is 3/22! Chase Bank customer here. I was literally shaking when I saw the notification! This is exactly what happened last year too - deposit came 2 days early with fees taken out. The system is definitely working as expected for March filers!
Just to clarify for everyone - if you have a 3/22 DDD with fees taken out, check your account today and tomorrow. Step 1: Check your actual bank account, not just the app. Step 2: Look for pending transactions if your bank shows them. Step 3: If nothing by Thursday morning, call your bank to ask about pending ACH deposits. I need to know ASAP because we're closing on our house Friday!
I filed exactly on February 14th at 9:37am. My transcript updated on March 1st with a 570 code, then on March 8th it changed to 571 (release of hold) and 846 (refund issued) with a direct deposit date of March 15th. The money hit my account this morning, exactly on schedule. From what I've seen in previous years, the IRS processes returns in batches based on when they were received, so all of us 2/14 filers should be in roughly the same batch.
My transcript shows processing date of March 18th (cycle code 20241105) with a 570 code dated March 15th. Based on your experience, how many days exactly between your 570 and 571 codes? Trying to calculate when I might see movement.
Just to clarify for everyone - the 21-day processing guideline is just that, a guideline. The IRS is not obligated to process returns within that timeframe. Many factors can extend processing time including verification of credits, identity verification requirements, and staffing limitations. If you need your refund for immediate expenses, you might want to adjust your withholding for next year to prevent being in this situation again.

Be careful about identity verification requirements this year. Last year I filed early with EIC, got my state refund quickly, but then my federal went into limbo. Turns out they flagged me for ID verification but the letter took 3 weeks to arrive. By the time I got it and verified my identity, I'd already waited 2 months. If you don't see any movement by March 1st, check if you need to verify your identity through ID.me or by calling the dedicated verification line. Don't just wait indefinitely like I did.

I'm in the exact same situation! Filed January 20th with TurboTax, claimed EIC, got my state refund on February 2nd, and my federal is still processing. Have you checked your account transcript on the IRS website? Mine shows a 570 code which apparently means they're reviewing something. Did you have any investment income or unemployment this year? Those can trigger additional review.
