810 Freeze: Tax preparer withholding 1040 forms, blocking my refund. Will this affect 2025 filing?
Still stuck with an 810 freeze and my tax preparer wont release the rest of my 1040 forms to show what credits were claimed. Its December already and nothing is moving. Getting worried about next tax season coming up. Anyone know if having an unresolved 810 from this year will mess up filing for next year?

Tax expert here - an 810 freeze typically means the IRS has flagged your return for potential income verification issues or suspected fraud around withholdings. This is happening a lot lately with the new preparer due diligence requirements. The IRS is really cracking down on suspicious withholding claims in 2025. I'd strongly recommend using taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) to analyze your transcripts and get a clear picture of what's triggering this freeze. Their AI can identify exactly which line items are causing problems and estimate your release timeline based on similar cases. The 810 freeze can take 60-120 days to resolve if everything checks out, longer if they need additional documentation.

•Super accurate in my experience. It analyzes thousands of similar cases to predict timelines and suggest solutions.

•Just used taxr.ai and here's what I got back - my freeze is from claiming too many dependents without proper verification. Says it should clear in ~45 days based on similar cases

•Does taxr tell you what documents you need to get the freeze lifted? My tax lady ghosted me 🤡

•Yeah fam it gives you a whole checklist! For me it said I need my kids' social security cards + school records. Way clearer than what the IRS told me lol

Your tax preparer is legally required to provide you with a complete copy of your return. File a complaint with the IRS Office of Professional Responsibility. You can also request a wage and income transcript directly from the IRS to see what was filed.

•No lawyer needed. Go to irs.gov/tax-professionals/make-a-complaint-about-a-tax-return-preparer

Hey, I was literally in the same boat last month! I used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it showed exactly which credits were claimed that triggered the freeze. Was totally worth the $1 - way better than trying to piece everything together yourself. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai

The 810 freeze won't automatically affect next year's return, but you definitely need to resolve this ASAP. Your preparer sounds sketchy af
