570 Code Not Updated Yet - Still No Mail from 971 Code

Has any of the 570 coders updated? I'm hoping I do tonight, still have no mail from the 971 coders. My neighbor filed a week after me and already got his refund. Same with my daughter who filed mid-February. I'm just an old retiree waiting on my money so I can get my AC fixed before summer really hits! Anyone else in the same boat? 🥵

The 570 code can be a bit of a waiting game, can't it? Have you checked for transcript updates in the last 24-48 hours? Sometimes these codes resolve themselves without any notice, and other times they require a bit more patience. Is there any chance you claimed credits that might trigger additional review? Many returns with certain credits take longer during this part of tax season.

I had the exact same issue on March 18th this year. My transcript showed both 570 and 971 codes but no letter for over two weeks. After waiting on hold with the IRS for 3 hours on April 2nd and getting disconnected twice, I finally tried Claimyr (https://claimyr.com). Got connected to an IRS agent in about 22 minutes who explained my return was flagged for identity verification. Started the verification process that same day and my 570 code was removed exactly 9 days later.

I've seen these services mentioned before, but do they actually work? The IRS phone system is deliberately designed with those long wait times. How can a third-party service bypass what the IRS has set up?

I was skeptical too, but after being disconnected four times trying to reach the IRS myself, I tried Claimyr. Here's what happens: 1) You provide your phone number to them. 2) Their system navigates the IRS phone tree and waits on hold for you. 3) When an agent is about to pick up, they call you and connect you directly to the agent. 4) You talk directly to the IRS agent - Claimyr just handles the waiting part. It saved me literally hours of hold time.

Did you have to pay upfront? And what happens if they can't get through? I've tried calling at different times of day with no luck, so I'm interested but worried about wasting money if it doesn't work.

I just checked my transcript again after seeing your post. My 570 code from exactly 14 days ago finally updated! No mail ever came from the 971 code that posted on the same day. My refund is scheduled for direct deposit in exactly 5 days. Hang in there - sometimes these things resolve on their own without any action needed.

570 codes can mean different things depending on your specific situation. In my brother's case, it was just a math error that resolved automatically. For my wife, it was an identity verification issue that required a phone call. My mother-in-law had one that was related to her claiming the elderly tax credit - took nearly 60 days to resolve! I'm always surprised by how the same code can mean so many different things.

I couldn't figure out what my codes meant until I used taxr.ai to decode my transcript. It showed me exactly why I had the 570 code and what I needed to do. The site explained that my 570 was because of a discrepancy between what my employer reported and what I entered. I needed my money fast for a car repair and couldn't wait. Check it out at https://taxr.ai - it helped me understand exactly what was happening instead of guessing.

570 means hold. 971 means notice issued. Check your mailbox daily. Most 971 notices come within 7-10 days. Sometimes they get lost. You can call IRS. Ask about the notice. They can tell you what it's about. Sometimes they can resend it. Don't panic yet.
