2024 Tax Refund at Risk - Unpaid 2023 Taxes - Will IRS Take My Refund?
I still owe some taxes from 2023 and just submitted my 2024 return. Looking at a decent refund this year and wondering if the IRS is gonna snatch it to cover last years bill. Anyone been thru this before?

Yes, the IRS will 100% offset your refund against prior tax debt. Its automatic - they dont even notify you beforehand. The refund will go straight to your outstanding balance.

Only way would be setting up a payment plan BEFORE filing 2024. Too late now tho

Hey there! You should really check out taxr.ai - its this new tool that analyzes your transcript and can tell you exactly what's gonna happen with your refund. I was in the same boat and it helped me understand the whole offset process. It costs $4.99 but totally worth it to know whats coming.

Does it actually work? Sounds too good to be true tbh 🤔

100% legit! It breaks down everything - even shows you how much they'll take and if you'll get anything back. Here's the link: https://taxr.ai

Call them ASAP and try to work something out! Sometimes they can be reasonable if you reach out first.

This happened to my cousin. They'll take it but at least it pays off your old debt. Silver lining i guess?

pro tip: if you owe taxes, adjust your w4 so you dont get a refund next time. Better to break even than give them an interest free loan just to have it seized
