DFCS closed my Medicaid and EBT without notice or interview - What now?
I just checked my GA Gateway account and saw that both my Medicaid and EBT cases have been closed. The weird thing is, I never got any letters about it and didn't even have an interview. Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do now?

Ugh, that sucks! The same thing happened to me last month. Here's what I did: 1. Take screenshots of everything on your Gateway account 2. Call DFCS ASAP and explain the situation 3. Ask why your cases were closed without an interview 4. Find out how to appeal or reopen your cases 5. Get any deadlines for appealing Good luck! The system is so broken 🤦♂️

•This is great advice! I'd also recommend keeping a log of all your calls and who you speak to. It can be a lifesaver later on.

•Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely do all of this. Did you manage to get your cases reopened?

•Yeah, I did! It took about 3 weeks and a lot of follow-up calls, but I finally got everything sorted out. Don't give up!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/nZambXh8Woc

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20??? That's highway robbery! 😡

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

•How long did it take for them to get someone on the line?

•It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to that awful hold music lol

have you checked your mail lately? sometimes those letters take forever to arrive. might be worth waiting a few more days before panicking

This is why I always tell people to opt for electronic notifications. Paper mail is so unreliable these days 🙄

•How do you set that up? I can never figure out the GA Gateway site 😫

•Log in to your account, go to 'Communication Preferences', and select 'Email' for all notifications. It's a game-changer!

Yo, this happened to my cousin last year. Turns out there was a glitch in the system that closed a bunch of cases by mistake. Def call and ask if there's been any known issues lately.

•Oh wow, I hadn't even considered that possibility. I'll make sure to ask about it when I call. Thanks!

•This! 👆 Political pressure can work wonders sometimes.

Quick question - did you recently have any changes in income or household size? Sometimes that can trigger an automatic review and closure if they think you're no longer eligible.

•Nope, nothing's changed on my end. That's why I'm so confused about this whole situation.

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the phone, try going to your local DFCS office in person. Sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get things done with these bureaucrats 🙄
