Backdate confusion: DEO set my claim to May but all my unemployment was in March

I'm pulling my hair out with this DEO nightmare! Filed for unemployment on April 5th but ALL my lost work was from March. After weeks of calling, I finally got through to someone at DEO (twice in the past couple months), but they somehow set my claim start date to MAY?? How does that make any sense? I've only received ONE pandemic-related payment since this all began. Every time I call now it's just disconnects or being put on hold forever. Does anyone know how to get my claim properly backdated to MARCH when I actually lost my job? I swear it's like nobody at DEO has any idea what they're doing.

DEO always messes up dates!! they did the same to me but they started my claim in JUNE when i was out of work since february! took like 9 tries to get someone who fixed it

9 tries?? That actually gives me hope. I'm already at like 15+ calls with no luck. Did you do anything special to finally get through to someone who could help?

You need to request backdate through CONNECT. Login to your account, go to \

Thank you!! I'll try this today. When I go to the Determinations section, would it be listed under \

HAHAHA good luck with that! Been fighting with DEO since 2022 about my dates! The whole system is rigged to make us give up. Everything they touch turns to garbage. Three different agents told me three different things about backdating.

I understand your frustration, but there IS an official process for backdating that works when done correctly. The key is documenting everything and being extremely specific about dates when speaking with representatives. Always get the ID number of any agent you speak with.

Have you tried using Claimyr to reach someone at DEO? After weeks of trying to get through the normal way, I used their service and got connected to an agent in about 20 minutes. The rep I spoke with was actually knowledgeable and fixed my backdate issue on the spot. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj and their website is claimyr.com. Seriously saved me from giving up on my claim.

Yes, that's the one! It basically keeps dialing DEO for you until it gets through, then calls your phone to connect you. Saved me literally days of redial frustration.

I worked through this exact issue last month. Here's the proper process:\n\n1. First, you need to submit a formal backdate request through CONNECT under \

This is incredibly helpful, thank you!! I didn't realize there was a specific email for backdating issues. Do you know what documents they accepted as proof? I have my termination letter but it doesn't specifically say \

im confused about something... are you talking about regular unemployment or the special pandemic unemployment? because those are different systems and the dates work differently! my sister had problems with this too

Honestly I'm not even sure anymore. I just know I lost my job in March, filed in April, but DEO has my claim starting in May, and I've only gotten one payment that specifically mentioned pandemic assistance. The whole system is so confusing!

This is an important point. Regular Reemployment Assistance (RA) and the pandemic programs (PUA/PEUC) were handled differently. For regular RA claims, your effective date should be the Sunday of the week you applied, but pandemic claims could be backdated to when you first became unemployed due to COVID. Since you mentioned receiving one pandemic payment, it sounds like you might have been on PUA initially.

did u check ur inbox on CONNECT? sometimes they send messages asking for more info before they can backdate and if u dont respond they just leave it at the wrong date. happened to my cousin

I never thought to check there! I've been obsessively checking my email but haven't looked in the CONNECT inbox in weeks. Thanks for the tip - I'll go check right now.

btw when u do get thru to someone make sure u write down EVERYTHING. the agent name, ID number, what they told u, date and time. DEO loves to say \

This is great advice. I've been so frustrated I haven't been documenting anything. Starting today I'm keeping a detailed log of every interaction. I'm not letting them get away with more runaround.
