DCF food stamps shut off, getting the runaround. What to do?
I called the food stamp office and was super polite like everyone said to be. The lady on the phone told me I had to call a different number. She couldn't help me at all! Has anyone else had this problem? What should I do now?

Ugh, classic runaround. They always do this! I swear they're trained to transfer you until you give up. 🙄

Did they tell you why you need to call a different number? Sometimes different departments handle specific issues. Might be worth calling the new number to see if they can actually help.

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/pVSidIVLq0c

•Sounds sketchy. Is this legit?

•Totally legit! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

•How does it work exactly? Do they just keep calling until someone picks up?

•Yeah, basically. They have some tech that navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person answers, it calls you. Pretty slick!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Write down the exact reason your food stamps were shut off. If you don't know, that's your first question. 2. Call the new number they gave you. Be prepared with your case number and any relevant dates. 3. If they can't help, ask to speak to a supervisor. 4. If still no luck, contact your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can cut through red tape. 5. Document everything: who you talked to, when, what they said. 6. Check if there's an online portal where you can submit questions or check your status. 7. As a last resort, consider visiting an office in person if possible. Remember, persistence is key. The system is frustrating, but don't let it wear you down. You've got this!

OP, what state are you in? The process can vary a lot depending on location. Might help to know for more specific advice.
