Just lost job in October - tips for filing unemployment claim?
Hey everyone, I just lost my job in October and I'm trying to file for unemployment. Has anyone gone through this process recently? Any tips or advice on what to say when I talk to the agent? I'm feeling a bit nervous about the whole thing.

Sorry to hear about your job loss. When you talk to the agent, make sure to mention the exact date your last job ended. They'll probably ask about your work history and reason for unemployment. Just be honest and straightforward. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! Do you know if they'll ask for any specific documents? Should I have my last paycheck stub ready or anything like that?

Yeah, it's good to have your last few pay stubs handy, as well as your social security number and driver's license. They might also ask for your employer's info, so have that ready too. Better to be over-prepared than scrambling for info during the call!

Don't forget to mention any severance pay if you got it. That can affect when your benefits start. learned that the hard way 🙄

Ugh, good luck dealing with the unemployment office. I've been trying to get through for weeks and keep getting disconnected. It's a total 💩show.

Same here! I swear they're doing it on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits. The whole system is broken af

Guys, I found a way to actually get through! There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that calls for you, waits on hold, and then connects you when a real person picks up. It costs $20 but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/0UZGuPWGErg

Wait, seriously? $20 to skip the hold time? Sounds too good to be true... has anyone else tried this?

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Was desperate after trying for days and it got me through in like 30 minutes. Worth every penny imo

Make sure you file as soon as possible! Benefits are calculated from when you file, not when you lost your job. Don't leave money on the table by waiting!

Pro tip: keep a detailed log of all your job search activities. They might ask for this info later and it's a pain to recreate from memory. I use a spreadsheet to track everything.

This! 💯 I got audited last year and was so glad I had kept good records. Saved my butt.

Anyone else notice that the online system is always "down for maintenance" right when you need it? 🙄 I swear they do this on purpose to reduce claims...

Guys, take off the tinfoil hats. It's probably just old systems that can't handle the volume. Still sucks tho

Here's a comprehensive guide for filing unemployment: 1. Gather all necessary documents (last pay stub, employer info, ID) 2. Visit your state's unemployment website and create an account 3. Fill out the online application carefully - double check everything! 4. Submit your claim and note your confirmation number 5. Set a reminder to file weekly claims (very important!) 6. Be prepared for a phone interview - they may need additional info 7. Start your job search immediately and document everything 8. If denied, don't give up! Appeal the decision. Remember, the process can be slow and frustrating, but stay persistent. You've paid into this system and deserve the benefits. Good luck!

Don't forget to check if you qualify for any additional assistance programs while you're at it. Food stamps, utility assistance, etc. Every little bit helps when you're between jobs.

Has anyone had luck with the callback feature? I've been waiting for 3 days now and still no call... starting to think its just a placebo to make us feel better lol

Just a heads up, they might ask about any side gigs or freelance work. Be honest about it, but know that it can affect your benefits. Better to disclose upfront than get hit with an overpayment later.
