Got my new EDD card - what next? Tips needed!

Hey everyone, I just got a new EDD card and I'm not sure what to do next. Has anyone been through this process recently? Any tips or things I should watch out for?

Alfredo Lugo

Congrats on getting your new card! šŸŽ‰ Make sure to activate it asap. You should be able to do it online or by phone. Don't forget to set up a PIN too!

Thanks for the advice! Do you know how long it usually takes for funds to show up after activation?

In my experience, it can take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days. If you don't see anything after 3 days, def give EDD a call.

Yo, make sure you keep that activation letter too! Sometimes they ask for the number on it if you need to call customer service.

Word of advice: don't use the card at sketchy ATMs. I got my info stolen that way once. Stick to bank ATMs or just use it for purchases.

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we still have to deal with physical cards in 2023? Why can't they just do direct deposit like a normal job smh

Preach! šŸ™Œ The whole system needs an overhaul tbh

You can set up direct deposit tho? At least in my state you can. Check your EDD account settings

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at EDD! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds kinda sketchy. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

How long did you have to wait for the callback?

It took about 45 minutes for me, but I've heard it can vary depending on how busy they are. Still way better than being stuck on hold yourself!

Here's a comprehensive guide for new EDD card holders: ā€¢ Activate your card immediately upon receipt ā€¢ Set up a secure PIN ā€¢ Register for online account access ā€¢ Verify your identity if required (sometimes they need additional docs) ā€¢ Set up direct deposit if you prefer that over the card ā€¢ Keep your card in a safe place and don't share your PIN ā€¢ Monitor your balance regularly ā€¢ Be aware of any fees associated with ATM withdrawals ā€¢ If you have any issues, don't hesitate to contact EDD or Bank of America (they handle the cards) ā€¢ Keep all correspondence from EDD in case you need to reference it later Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Great list! I'd add: make sure your address is up to date with EDD. I moved and didn't update it, caused a whole mess šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø
