Can I get partial EDD benefits after retail hours cut from 28 to 18 hours weekly?
Hey EDD folks - I'm in a tough spot and hoping someone can help. I've been working at the same clothing retailer for about 3 years, consistently getting 28-30 hours per week. Last week my manager told me they're cutting my schedule to just 18 hours weekly due to 'corporate restructuring' (whatever that means). Several other part-timers are getting similar cuts. My bills aren't going to magically shrink by 35%! I'm already applying everywhere I can for either a replacement job or something to fill those missing hours, but nothing's happening quickly. After my hours got cut at the grocery store, I wasted a WEEK trying to get through to EDD. Literally called 47 times one day (yes I counted) and never got past the stupid recording. Ended up using Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me through to an agent in about 20 minutes. They have this system that basically calls for you until they get through, then they call you back when they have an agent on the line. Saved me so much frustration.
