Need help getting EDD claim processed ASAP - any tips to actually reach an agent?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get my claim processed so I can finally get paid. It's been weeks and I'm getting desperate. Has anyone had any luck getting through to an agent? I've tried calling multiple times but always end up on hold forever. Any tips or tricks would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last month. It's like they're purposely making it impossible to reach anyone! 😤 Have you tried calling right when they open? That seemed to work for me after a few attempts.

Thanks for the tip! I've tried that a couple times but no luck so far. What time did you call exactly?

I called at exactly 8:00 AM on a Tuesday. It took a few tries, but I finally got through after about a week of trying. Good luck!

8 AM? Jeez, I can barely function that early 😴 But I guess if it works...

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate enough to try anything. The $20 was worth it to finally get my claim sorted.

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

Yeah, basically their system keeps dialing and navigating the phone menu. Once a real person picks up, it forwards the call to you. Saved me hours of being on hold!

Have you tried reaching out on social media? Sometimes tweeting at them or messaging on Facebook can get a response. It's ridiculous we have to resort to this, but it's worth a shot.

Listen up, here's what you need to do: 1. Document EVERYTHING. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and attempts to contact them. 2. Be persistent. Call every single day if you have to. 3. Know your rights. Research the laws and regulations about claim processing times. 4. Reach out to your local representatives. Sometimes they can help push things along. 5. Consider filing a formal complaint if it's been an unreasonable amount of time. 6. Join forces with others in the same situation. There's power in numbers. Remember, the system is designed to wear you down. Don't give up!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping better records. Any suggestions on the best way to contact local reps?

Glad to help! For contacting reps, start with your state assembly member or senator. Most have websites with contact forms or office phone numbers. Explain your situation clearly and ask for their assistance in expediting your claim. Good luck!

Has anyone had success with the online portal? I've heard mixed things about whether it's faster than calling.

I tried the online portal and it was useless. Kept giving me error messages and never actually resolved anything. Calling is a pain, but at least you might eventually talk to a real person.

Pro tip: if you do get through to someone, ask for their employee ID number and extension. That way, if you get disconnected, you have a better chance of getting back to the same person.

I'm in the same boat as you, OP. It's so frustrating. I've been trying to get through for weeks. This whole process is making me seriously consider a career change to become an unemployment counselor or something. At least then I'd know how the system works! 😅

Anyone else notice that the system seems to work better on certain days of the week? I've had the most luck on Wednesdays for some reason.
