EDD Child Bonding Payments 2 Months Late - No Updates, What to Do?
Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated. I filed for child bonding payments two months ago and still haven't received anything. No payments, no notices, nothing. I filed back in June and it's been radio silence since then. Has anyone else experienced this kind of delay? Any advice on what I should do next? I'm thinking about calling EDD but I'm not sure what to say or ask. This wait is killing me financially.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last year. It took them almost 3 months to process my claim. The system is so backed up its ridiculous. Have you tried checking your claim status online?

Yeah, I've checked online but it just says 'pending'. No other info. Did you do anything special to get yours processed?

Honestly, I just had to wait it out. But calling them might help speed things up. Be prepared to wait on hold for hours tho 🙄

Pro tip: call right when they open. You might get through faster!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but 2 months is actually pretty normal these days. The EDD is swamped and understaffed. But that doesn't mean you should just sit back and wait. Definitely give them a call and see if there's anything holding up your claim.

Listen up, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

100% legit. I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

Wait, we have to PAY to talk to a government agency now? This country is going to hell in a handbasket 🤦♂️

I get the frustration, but think of it this way - your time is worth money too. Spending hours on hold or calling back day after day costs you in other ways.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your docs - claim number, filing date, any correspondence you have. 2. Call EDD first thing in the morning (use that claimyr thing if you want, I've heard it works) 3. Be polite but firm. Explain your situation clearly. 4. Ask if there are any issues with your claim or if they need any additional info. 5. Get the name and ID of who you talk to. 6. If they can't help, ask to speak to a supervisor. 7. Follow up on any actions they suggest ASAP. 8. If all else fails, contact your local state representative. They can sometimes cut through the red tape. Good luck! The system sucks, but don't give up. You'll get your money eventually. 💪

This is why we need universal basic income. The bureaucracy is killing people who need help NOW. Sorry youre dealing with this OP.

Not to be that guy, but did you double check that you filled out everything correctly? One tiny mistake can hold up the whole process.

Yeah, I triple-checked everything. Pretty sure it's all correct, but I guess anything's possible at this point.

Unpopular opinion: maybe try going down to the EDD office in person? I know it's a pain, but sometimes face-to-face interaction can work wonders.

Bold of you to assume the office is even open lol. Most of them are still closed or by appointment only.

Plot twist: what if the checks are lost in the mail? 🤔 Might be worth checking with USPS too, just in case.
