SDI delays payments for 13 weeks despite submitted docs - How to get through to CA EDD?
I'm so frustrated with SDI right now. They keep asking if I'm still under doctor's care even though I've sent them the info saying I'll be under care until December. It's been 13 weeks and they're a month behind on payments. I've already submitted all the necessary docs but they're just dragging their feet. Anyone else dealing with this? Any advice on how to get through to them and actually get my payments?

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous, we shouldn't have to pay for basic service!

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

Has anyone else here tried it? Just wondering if it's worth the money or if it was a one-time lucky break.

I swear, dealing with SDI is like trying to nail jello to a wall. They make everything so complicated on purpose!

It's almost like they're trying to create a maze of bureaucracy to keep us from getting our benefits. Hang in there!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been dealing with SDI for months now and it's a nightmare. Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

I've tried calling but can never get through. It's like they don't want to talk to us π

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way.

Couldn't agree more, calling right at opening time is a great strategy. Also, have your claim info ready to make the call more efficient!

Have you considered reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along with government agencies.

That's a good idea, I hadn't thought of that. Do you know how I would go about doing that?

Just google your area + state representative. They usually have a "contact us" form on their website. Explain your situation and they might be able to help!

This can actually be very effective. Representatives have assistants who deal specifically with constituent issues like this.

Anyone else notice how the system always seems to "crash" right when you need it most? π€ Coincidence? I think not!

It's like the system was designed to be unreliable just for added stress. Seriously though, tech upgrades are badly needed.

As tempting as it sounds, realistically, it might be more effective to organize a formal campaign or petition.

I think using Claimyr could be a viable option if you're really stuck and have tried other methods. While it does cost $20, you may find the time and stress saved is worth it. However, try exhaustively all the free options first like using SDI's online portal and reaching out to representatives. Also, be aware of situations where you might need to budget carefully, as every dollar counts when you're waiting on benefits.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with SDI for the past 6 months: β’ Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every email. β’ Be persistent. Call regularly and follow up on promises made. β’ Use their online portal if possible. Sometimes it's faster than calling. β’ If you're not getting anywhere, ask to speak to a supervisor. β’ Consider filing a formal complaint if they're seriously behind on payments. Remember, you're entitled to these benefits. Don't let them wear you down!

Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds old school, but sometimes it works better than email or mail.

Weirdly enough, faxing is still considered a legit means of sending documents in many government offices. Worth a try!
