SDI claim filed July 3rd, no update after a month - What to do?

Hey everyone, I'm still waiting on an update for my disability claim. It's been over a month since I filed (July 3rd) and I haven't heard anything back. Has anyone else been experiencing long wait times like this? I'm starting to get worried and could really use some advice on what to do next. Should I try calling them or just keep waiting?

I found a way to solve disability claim wait times, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzzCtZAhrUQ

Okay, let me break this down for you. I've been through this rodeo before, so here's what you need to know: ā€¢ First off, a month isn't unusual. The EDD is notoriously slow, especially since COVID hit. ā€¢ However, that doesn't mean you should just sit and wait. ā€¢ Try to log into your online account and check for any messages or updates there. ā€¢ If you can't get through on the phone, try emailing them. Sometimes that works better. ā€¢ Keep a record of all your attempts to contact them. This can be useful if you need to escalate later. ā€¢ If you're in dire financial straits, reach out to your local assemblyperson or state senator. They can sometimes help push things along. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up, and don't be afraid to be a squeaky wheel. Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely try emailing them and checking my online account more regularly. You're a lifesaver šŸ™

This is solid advice. I wish I'd known about the assemblyperson thing when I was waiting on my claim!

Also, consider reaching out to community legal services - they sometimes have resources for people stuck in limbo with their claims.

Have you checked if theres any missing information they need from you? Sometimes they dont tell you and your claim just sits there. Happened to me and I didnt know for weeks šŸ˜‘

Oh no, I hadn't even thought of that. How did you find out?

I finally got through to someone on the phone and they told me. Might be worth trying that claimyr thing someone mentioned above if you cant get through yourself.

In some cases, you might also want to check any correspondences like emails or letters from them. They might have mailed something about missing documentation.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wait, seriously? Is this legit? Sounds too good to be true.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta pay to play, ya know?

I tried it too, and it really worked for me. I know it feels wrong having to pay, but sometimes it's the only way to get through the bureaucracy.

I think it's a shame that services like Claimyr even need to exist. Ideally, the system should work without needing third-party help, but glad to know there's help out there if needed.

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you gotta be proactive and chase them down for answers. It sucks, but thats how it is these days.

I've tried calling a few times but I can never get through. It's so frustrating šŸ˜¤

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. Sometimes you can get lucky and catch someone before the lines get jammed.

Unpopular opinion: maybe try going down to the office in person? I know its a pain, but sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get answers.

Bruh, have you tried that recently? They barely even let you in the building these days šŸ’€

Anyone else notice how the wait times seem to get longer every year? I swear it used to be better than this. The whole systems going down the drain if you ask me.

Totally agree, it's like everything is getting slower. Maybe they need more staff or better systems in place to handle the volume.

I think part of it is that more people are applying now than before. The increased volume isn't something they were prepared for.

It's frustrating. We pay taxes and expect these systems to work efficiently, but the reality is often disappointing.

Yeah, I've tried everything short of camping outside their office. Thinking about trying that claimyr thing next, I'm desperate at this point.

Yikes! Maybe try contacting a local news outlet. Sometimes when the media gets involved, things start moving faster.
