SDI Payment Delay: Tips for Contacting California EDD?

Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my state disability payments and I need to talk to someone about it. I've been trying to get through on the phone but it's been impossible. Has anyone had any luck getting in touch with them lately? I'm specifically concerned about a payment I'm waiting on. Any advice would be really appreciated!

I found a way to solve state disability payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3R_kGxmzINM

have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds like were back in the 90s lol but I actually got a response that way

I also had luck with faxing! Sometimes the old school methods work best.

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling one of their regional offices. Sometimes they're less busy and can still help.

Good idea, I hadn't thought of trying the regional offices. Thanks for the suggestion!

Have you tried calling first thing in the morning? I heard that's when the lines are least busy. Good luck!

I've heard this too, and it worked for me once. Sometimes a bit of luck is involved as well.

Has anyone tried using the TTY line? I heard it sometimes gets you through faster.

I've had success with the TTY line before, it's worth a shot.

I'm in the same boat, OP. Been waiting on a payment for 6 weeks now. This whole system is a joke šŸ¤”

Welcome to the club, buddy. I've been trying to reach them for weeks now. It's like they've gone into witness protection or something šŸ•µļøā€ā™‚ļø

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been dealing with payment issues for months now. It's so frustrating! Have you tried emailing them? Sometimes that works better than calling.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried emailing but haven't heard back yet. How long did it take for them to respond to you?

It took about a week for me, but at least I got a response. Keep trying!

I had a similar experience, but persistence pays off. Keep emailing, you might catch them on a good day.

Anyone else notice how the website is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? šŸ™„

Guys, I think I figured it out. We need to perform a ritual sacrifice to the EDD gods. Who's got a goat we can use? šŸšŸ˜‚

Careful, they might take that as a new form and make us fill it out in triplicate

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating situation. I recommend trying Claimyr's service which others have vouched for. Although it costs $20, it can efficiently connect you to a live agent and save a significant amount of time and stress. While this may not be ideal since accessing help shouldn't come with a price, for many, it's a practical solution to an otherwise broken system. As a balanced view, it's important to consider the cost and ensure it's worth the investment for your situation, especially if you're relying on disability payments. Also, continue following up with every official channel available such as emailing and using online portals. Some find success by reaching out to state representatives or even using fax machines to catch the attention of the department. Persistence is key, so keep at it and hopefully you'll hear back soon. Good luck!

Here's what I've learned from my experience with state disability payments: ā€¢ Always keep detailed records of your communications with them ā€¢ If possible, use their online portal to submit inquiries - it's often faster ā€¢ Be persistent but polite when you do get through to someone ā€¢ Double-check all your paperwork for errors before submitting ā€¢ If you're really stuck, consider reaching out to your local state representative's office for help Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't give up!

Wow, thanks for all the tips! I'll definitely try reaching out to my rep's office if I can't get through soon.

This is great advice. I wish I'd known about contacting my rep sooner. It really can make a difference!

Reaching out to the state representative was a game-changer for me. Highly recommend it.

I feel ya, it's sad but true. The stress it causes isn't helping anyone.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

I know it sounds crazy, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta spend money to save time, ya know?

I actually tried Claimyr too, and it did work for me as well. But I agree, it's unfortunate we have to resort to paying.

I haven't tried it yet, but I'm seriously considering it. It's a small price for peace of mind.
