How to contact my local EDD SDI representative when regular phone lines aren't working?
I've been trying to get help with my SDI claim for over two weeks now and I'm about to lose my mind! The regular EDD phone lines keep disconnecting me or I get stuck on hold forever. Someone mentioned finding a 'local EDD representative' who might be able to help with my claim faster. Does anyone know how to find these local reps? Do they have offices somewhere I can just walk into? I'm having issues with my certification dates and need to speak with an actual human being before I miss another payment. Any advice would be really appreciated!

You can try contacting ur state assembly person's office. They have EDD liaisons who can help with SDI claims. Google '(your county) state assembly representative' and call their district office. They helped me last yr when my disability claim was stuck for a month.

•Thank you! I had no idea the assembly representatives could help with EDD issues. Did you need to provide them with a lot of documentation? How long did it take before they resolved your issue?

The previous commenter is correct. Your state assembly member or state senator's office can help with EDD SDI cases. That's actually the most effective way to get assistance when you're stuck in the regular EDD system. They have dedicated staff who work as liaisons with various state agencies, including EDD. You'll need to: 1. Find your representative based on your address using: findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov 2. Contact their district office (not the Sacramento office) 3. Ask to speak with their EDD caseworker 4. Be prepared to fill out a privacy release form 5. Provide your EDD Customer Account Number and claim details They typically respond within 1-3 business days and can often resolve issues that have been pending for weeks.

•this is GREAT advice. my brother got his PFL claim fixed in like 2 days after waiting MONTHS trying to do it himself through the normal channels!!

While the state rep option is good, I've found that getting through directly to EDD SDI is actually possible if you use the right service. I was in the same boat - calling for weeks and getting disconnected. I finally tried Claimyr (claimyr.com) after seeing it mentioned here. They got me connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes after I'd been trying for weeks on my own. They have a demo video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd It worked great for my disability claim issue - the EDD agent was able to fix my certification problem right away once I finally got through to them.

•Yes, it really worked for me! I was super skeptical too. But I was desperate after trying for 3 weeks to get through. The EDD agent I spoke with was able to fix my certification issue in about 10 minutes once I finally got connected.

All these fancy solutions and nobody mentions the OBVIOUS??!! EDD has OFFICES you can go to in person! They're called America's Job Centers (AJCC). BUT HERE'S THE THING NOBODY TELLS YOU - only SOME of them handle disability!! Most only do unemployment! You have to call ahead and specifically ask if they handle SDI claims because I wasted a whole day going to one that didn't!! I finally found one that had an SDI specialist and got my issue resolved. Call first and confirm they handle DISABILITY not just unemployment!!! The EDD website has a locator for these offices: https://edd.ca.gov/en/office_locator/

•This information isn't entirely accurate. The America's Job Centers primarily handle unemployment services, not SDI claims. While some offices might have staff with knowledge about disability insurance, they're generally not equipped to process or resolve SDI-specific issues. SDI is handled through the Disability Insurance Branch, which operates separately from the unemployment offices. Your best options are still calling the SDI phone line directly, using an intermediary service, or getting help through your state representative's office as others have suggested.

my cousin works for edd (not disability side tho) and she says internal contacts are way better than calling the main numbers. if u have any friends who work for the state, ask if they know someone in EDD. state workers all know each other lol

Thank you all SO MUCH for these suggestions! I found my assembly member using that website and sent them an email with my information this morning. I also tried calling the local AJCC office but, as someone mentioned, they don't handle SDI claims at my location. If I don't hear back from my assembly member by tomorrow, I might try that Claimyr service since I really need to get this resolved quickly. My rent is due next week and I'm counting on this disability payment. I'll update here with what ends up working!

•Good plan! One additional tip: when contacting your assembly member's office, make sure to call rather than email if you don't hear back within 24 hours. Their constituent services staff are usually very responsive by phone. Ask specifically for their "EDD caseworker" or "EDD liaison" when you call.

when my disability claim was messed up I just kept calling the main number but I tried at EXACTLY 8:00am when they open and got through right away. maybe try that before paying for services or waiting for politicians to help?

UPDATE: I wanted to let everyone know what worked. I called my assembly member's office yesterday morning and spoke with their EDD liaison. They took all my information and said they would contact EDD on my behalf. This morning (less than 24 hours later!) I got a call directly from an EDD SDI specialist who fixed the issue with my certification dates. My payment should be processed in the next 1-2 days. I'm so relieved! Thank you all for your help - especially the suggestion to contact my state representative. I never would have thought of that on my own.

That's amazing Eva! Thanks for coming back to update us - it's so helpful to know what actually worked. I'm bookmarking this thread because the assembly member route seems to be the real game-changer here. I've been struggling with my own SDI claim for weeks and was getting nowhere with the regular phone lines. Definitely going to try contacting my rep's office first thing Monday morning. Really appreciate everyone who shared their experiences here!

This is such a helpful thread! I'm dealing with a similar situation where my SDI claim has been stuck for weeks. Reading through all these responses, it sounds like the state assembly representative route is definitely the most effective option. I had no idea this was even possible - I thought the only way to get help was through the regular EDD phone lines. For anyone else reading this, it's really encouraging to see Eva's quick success story with her assembly member's office. Less than 24 hours is incredible compared to the weeks of frustration trying to get through the regular channels. I'm going to try this approach first before considering any paid services. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!

•I'm new here but this thread has been incredibly helpful! I'm currently dealing with my first SDI claim and have been struggling with the phone system for about a week now. Reading about Eva's success with her assembly member gives me hope that there's actually a way to get real help. I had no idea that state representatives could intervene with EDD issues - this seems like something they should advertise more! Planning to look up my rep today and give their office a call first thing Monday. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences here, especially those who came back with updates on what actually worked.

Just wanted to add another success story to this thread! I found this discussion a few weeks ago when I was having similar issues with my SDI claim being stuck in processing. Like Eva, I had been calling the regular EDD lines for over two weeks with no luck - either busy signals, disconnections, or hours on hold with no resolution. After reading through all the advice here, I decided to contact my state assembly member's office. I used the findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov website to locate my representative and called their local district office. The staff member I spoke with was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about EDD issues. They had me fill out a privacy release form and took down all my claim details. Within 48 hours, I received a call from an EDD specialist who was able to resolve my certification problem and get my payments back on track. The whole process was so much smoother than anything I experienced trying to navigate the system on my own. For anyone still struggling with SDI claims, I can't recommend the state representative route enough. It really works and their staff are specifically trained to handle these kinds of state agency issues. Don't waste weeks on the phone lines like I did - go straight to your assembly member's office!

•Thank you so much for sharing your success story! This is exactly what I needed to hear. I've been hesitant to contact my assembly member because I wasn't sure if they'd actually be able to help with something like this, but seeing multiple people confirm it works is really reassuring. I'm dealing with a similar situation where my SDI claim has been stuck for almost three weeks now. The regular phone lines have been absolutely useless - I either can't get through at all or get disconnected after waiting on hold forever. I'm definitely going to call my representative's office first thing tomorrow morning. It's incredible that this solution isn't more widely known - could have saved me weeks of frustration!

This thread is absolutely gold! I can't believe I've been banging my head against the wall trying to get through EDD's phone system for the past month when there was such a straightforward solution available. I'm currently dealing with my SDI claim being stuck in "pending" status with no explanation, and after reading Eva's and Yara's success stories, I'm convinced that contacting my assembly representative is the way to go. What really stands out to me is how quickly everyone got results - 24-48 hours compared to weeks of trying the regular channels. I found my representative using that website mentioned earlier and I'm planning to call their district office first thing in the morning. It's honestly frustrating that EDD doesn't make this option more visible to claimants who are struggling. For anyone else reading this who's on the fence about trying this approach - based on all the success stories in this thread, it seems like this is genuinely the most effective way to get real help with SDI issues. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences, especially those who came back with updates!

•I'm so glad I found this thread! I've been lurking on this community for a while but this is my first time commenting. Like everyone else here, I've been struggling with my SDI claim - mine's been stuck for about 3 weeks now and I was getting desperate. The regular EDD phone lines have been a nightmare - I've probably called 100+ times and either get busy signals or sit on hold for hours just to get disconnected. Reading through all these success stories with the assembly representative approach is giving me so much hope! I had absolutely no idea this was even an option. I always thought state reps only dealt with like, big policy issues, not individual problems like this. It's amazing how quickly everyone got results compared to the endless phone call runaround. I just looked up my representative and I'm definitely calling their office tomorrow morning. Thank you so much to Eva, Yara, and everyone else who shared what worked for them - this could literally save me from losing my apartment since my rent is overdue and I'm counting on this disability payment!

This thread is incredibly helpful! I'm dealing with a similar situation where my SDI claim has been stuck in review for almost a month now. I've called the main EDD number probably 75+ times and either get a busy signal or wait on hold for 2-3 hours just to get disconnected. It's been absolutely maddening! Reading all these success stories about contacting state assembly representatives is eye-opening - I honestly had no idea this was even possible. The fact that Eva, Yara, and others got their issues resolved within 24-48 hours while I've been spinning my wheels for weeks is both encouraging and frustrating. I just used that findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov website to look up my representative and I'm definitely calling their district office first thing Monday morning. My disability payments are my only source of income right now and I really can't afford to keep waiting much longer. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and especially those who came back with updates - knowing what actually worked makes all the difference!

•I'm so glad you found this thread! I just wanted to add my voice as someone who was in almost exactly the same situation as you - SDI claim stuck for weeks, endless phone calls with no results, getting desperate about finances. I actually tried the assembly representative approach after reading Eva's initial success story and it worked perfectly! Called my rep's office on a Wednesday morning, spoke with their EDD liaison who took all my information, and by Friday afternoon I had an EDD specialist calling me directly to resolve my claim. The whole thing was so much easier than I expected and the staff at my assembly member's office were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about these kinds of EDD issues. Don't wait any longer - definitely call Monday morning! Make sure to ask specifically for their EDD caseworker when you call. Good luck and I hope you get the same quick resolution the rest of us did!

Wow, this entire thread has been a lifesaver! I've been dealing with my own SDI claim nightmare for the past 3 weeks - my claim got stuck after I submitted my medical certification and I haven't been able to get through to anyone at EDD despite calling literally dozens of times daily. The phone system is absolutely broken. Reading through everyone's success stories with their assembly representatives is giving me so much hope! I had zero idea that this was even an option. Like others have mentioned, I always thought state reps only dealt with major legislative issues, not individual cases like ours. The fact that multiple people here got their issues resolved in 24-48 hours is incredible compared to the weeks of phone hell we've all been through. I just looked up my assembly member using that findyourrep website and I'm calling their district office first thing tomorrow morning. My disability payments are crucial right now since I can't work, and I'm already behind on bills waiting for this to get resolved. Thank you SO much to Eva, Yara, Jace, and everyone else who shared what actually worked for them. This community is amazing - I never would have known about this solution otherwise! I'll definitely come back and update with my results to help the next person who finds themselves in this frustrating situation.

•This thread has been such a game-changer! I'm another newcomer here who stumbled across this discussion while desperately searching for SDI help. Like so many others, I've been stuck in EDD phone hell for weeks - my claim has been "under review" for over a month and I've probably made 200+ calls with zero success. Seeing all these success stories with the assembly representative route is honestly the first real hope I've had in weeks! I had absolutely no clue this option existed. It's kind of amazing (and frustrating) that this isn't common knowledge given how broken the regular EDD phone system clearly is. I just found my rep using that website everyone mentioned and I'm definitely calling their office tomorrow. The fact that people are getting results in 1-2 days instead of weeks or months is incredible. Really appreciate everyone who took the time to share what worked and especially those who came back with updates - it makes such a difference to know there's actually a real solution out there! Will definitely report back with my experience to help keep this chain of successful stories going.

As someone who just discovered this community while searching for SDI help, I have to say this thread is absolutely incredible! I've been struggling with my disability claim for over 2 months now - it's been stuck in "pending review" status and despite calling the EDD phone lines every single day (sometimes 20+ times per day), I've gotten absolutely nowhere. Either busy signals, endless hold times, or getting disconnected after waiting for hours. Reading through all these success stories about contacting state assembly representatives is honestly blowing my mind. I had NO idea this was even possible! Like everyone else here, I thought state reps only handled big policy stuff, not individual cases like ours. The fact that Eva, Yara, Jace, and others got their issues resolved within 24-48 hours while I've been banging my head against the wall for months is both incredibly encouraging and deeply frustrating. I just spent the last hour reading through every single comment in this thread and I'm convinced this is the way to go. Already looked up my assembly member on that findyourrep website and I'm calling their district office first thing in the morning. My disability payments are my only income right now and I'm already several weeks behind on rent waiting for this nightmare to end. This community is amazing for sharing real solutions that actually work. Thank you to everyone who took the time to document their experiences and especially those who came back with updates - you're literally helping people keep their housing and survive financially. I'll definitely report back with my results to hopefully help the next person who finds themselves in this impossible situation!

•I'm so sorry you've been dealing with this nightmare for 2 whole months! That's absolutely unacceptable. Reading your story really hits home because I was in a similar situation just a few weeks ago - calling EDD constantly with zero results and getting more desperate by the day. The assembly representative route really is a game changer and I'm so glad you found this thread before wasting even more time with the broken phone system. When you call tomorrow, make sure to emphasize how long you've been waiting and that your housing is at risk - they take those kinds of urgent situations seriously. Really hoping you get the same quick resolution everyone else here experienced! Please do come back and update us - your success story could help the next person who's struggling.

•Two months is absolutely insane - I'm so sorry you've had to deal with this for so long! I just wanted to add my voice as someone who was in a very similar situation. My SDI claim was stuck for about 6 weeks and I was making 30+ calls per day to EDD with zero progress. I found this thread about a week ago and decided to try the assembly rep route after seeing all these success stories. I called my assembly member's office last Tuesday and spoke with their EDD liaison. They were incredibly understanding about my situation and took down all my details. By Thursday morning, I had an EDD specialist calling me directly who was able to resolve my claim issues in about 15 minutes. My payments started processing that same day. The difference in service quality is night and day - the EDD specialist who called me through my assembly rep was knowledgeable, helpful, and actually had the authority to make changes to my claim. It's such a stark contrast to the regular phone system where you can't even get through to a human. Definitely emphasize the urgency of your housing situation when you call - they prioritize cases where people are facing eviction or losing essential services. Best of luck and please update us with your results!

This thread has been absolutely incredible to read through! I just joined this community after spending the last month in EDD phone hell with my SDI claim. Like everyone else here, I've been calling constantly with zero success - just endless busy signals, hour-long hold times that end in disconnections, and complete frustration. I had absolutely no idea that contacting your state assembly representative was even an option for EDD issues! Reading through all these success stories - Eva getting help in under 24 hours, Yara's 48-hour resolution, and everyone else's quick turnarounds - is honestly the first real hope I've had in weeks. It's amazing how this solution isn't more widely publicized given how broken the regular EDD system clearly is. I just used that findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov website to locate my representative and I'm definitely calling their district office first thing Monday morning. My disability payments are my only source of income right now and I'm already behind on several bills waiting for this claim to process. Thank you so much to everyone who shared their experiences and especially those who came back with updates on what actually worked. •Welcome to the community! I'm so glad you found this thread - it really is a lifesaver. I was in almost exactly the same boat as you just a few weeks ago. My SDI claim had been stuck for over a month and I was making probably 40+ calls per day to EDD with absolutely no results. The phone system is completely broken and it's honestly criminal how they're treating people who desperately need these benefits. After reading through all the success stories here, I contacted my assembly representative's office and it was like night and day compared to dealing with EDD directly. Their staff actually knows how to handle these issues and they have direct contacts within EDD who can actually resolve problems. I got a call back from an EDD specialist within 36 hours and my entire claim was resolved in one phone conversation. When you call Monday, make sure to specifically ask for their "EDD liaison" or "EDD caseworker" and emphasize that you've been waiting a month with no income. They really do prioritize urgent cases. This approach works so much better than the regular phone system - I wish I had known about it from the beginning! Looking forward to hearing about your success story soon!

I'm new to this community but had to create an account just to share my experience after reading this amazing thread! I've been dealing with my own SDI claim disaster for the past 5 weeks - my claim has been stuck in "pending" status and I've literally called EDD over 300 times (yes, I've been keeping count out of pure frustration). The phone system is absolutely useless - I either get busy signals, wait on hold for 2-3 hours just to get disconnected, or on the rare occasion I get through, the rep says they "can't access" my file. Reading through everyone's success stories with the assembly representative route is genuinely giving me hope for the first time in over a month! I had zero clue this was even possible. Like everyone else, I thought state reps only handled major political issues, not individual cases like ours. The fact that so many people here got results in 24-48 hours while I've been stuck in this nightmare for over a month is both incredibly encouraging and infuriating. I just looked up my assembly member using that website everyone mentioned and I'm calling their district office first thing tomorrow morning. My disability benefits are literally my lifeline right now since I can't work, and I'm already facing eviction notices because I haven't been able to pay rent. This community is absolutely incredible for sharing real solutions that actually work instead of just venting about problems. Thank you to Eva, Yara, Ali, and everyone else who took the time to document what worked and came back with updates - you're literally helping people keep roofs over their heads. I promise to report back with my results to keep this chain of success stories going for the next person who desperately needs help!
