EDD payment issues after recent job loss - need advice on notices/letters

Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my EDD payment and I'm not sure what to do. My last job ended recently and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this. Have you received any notices or letters from EDD after your job ended? What was your experience like?

I went through this a few months ago. First thing you should do is check your online account for any messages or updates. Sometimes they send important info there that doesn't come in the mail. When did your job end exactly?

Thanks for the advice! My job ended about 3 weeks ago. I've been checking my online account but haven't seen anything new yet. Should I be worried?

3 weeks isnt too long, but keep an eye on it. If you dont see anything in the next week or so, might be worth giving them a call. Just be prepared to wait on hold forever 🙄

Ugh, the waiting game with EDD is the worst. I swear they operate on a different timeline than the rest of us 😩

Make sure you certify for benefits every two weeks! Even if you havent gotten an approval yet, you should still do this. It'll save you headaches later trust me

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at EDD! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous, we shouldn't have to pay for basic customer service 😤

I get the skepticism, but after spending hours trying to get through, it was worth it for me. Saved me a ton of stress and got my issue resolved quickly.

How long did you have to wait after using the service?

It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to actively wait on hold. They called me when an agent was on the line. Way better than my previous attempts!

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is always "undergoing maintenance" when you need it most? 🙄 It's like they're allergic to being helpful lol

Pro tip: try accessing the site late at night or early morning. Less traffic, fewer issues usually

Here's what you need to know about EDD payments after job loss: • First, make sure you're eligible. Generally, you need to have earned enough wages during the base period and be unemployed through no fault of your own. • File your claim ASAP after becoming unemployed. Don't wait! • After filing, there's usually a one-week unpaid waiting period. • You should receive some paperwork within 2 weeks of filing. If not, contact them. • Certify for benefits every two weeks. This is crucial! • Payments typically start within 3 weeks if there are no issues with your claim. • If you don't receive anything after 3 weeks, there might be an issue. Try to contact EDD. • Keep checking your UI Online account for updates and messages. • Report any wages you earn while receiving benefits. Remember, patience is key. The system can be slow, but stay persistent!

This should be pinned at the top of the subreddit tbh. So many people ask these same questions every day.

anyone else feel like they need a degree in bureaucracy just to navigate the EDD system? 🎓🤡

EDD should offer a course: "Confusion 101: How to Misunderstand Every Form" 😂

Hey OP, hang in there! We've all been in the same boat. It's frustrating but it'll work out eventually. Just keep at it and don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. We're all here supporting each other! 💪
