EDD incompetence: Conflicting info on doctor's order, no check received. Help!
I'm so frustrated with the EDD. I haven't received my check and it seems like nobody there knows what's going on. I've been told conflicting information about my doctor's order and compliance requirements. Every time I call, I get a different story. Has anyone else dealt with this level of incompetence? Any advice on how to actually get some answers and my check?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD is a total mess. I've been dealing with them for months and it's like talking to a brick wall. Have you tried sending them an email? Sometimes that works better than calling.

I haven't tried email yet. Good idea, thanks! Do you have a specific email address that worked for you?

I used the contact form on their website. It's not great, but at least you get a paper trail. Good luck!

Here's what worked for me: 1. Document everything. Every call, every letter, every interaction. 2. Be persistent. Call every day if you have to. 3. Ask for a supervisor. Don't take no for an answer. 4. Contact your local state representative. They can sometimes cut through the red tape. 5. Consider filing a formal complaint. It's a long process, but don't give up. The squeaky wheel gets the grease!

Wow, thank you for the detailed advice! I'll definitely start documenting everything. How long did it take you to finally get results?

It took about 6 weeks of constant effort, but I finally got my checks. Stay strong!

This is solid advice. I'd add: learn the lingo they use. It helps when you can speak their language.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of hold time.

$20 to actually talk to a human? Might be worth it at this point 😩

I'm skeptical. How do we know this isn't just some scam?

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. They don't ask for any personal info beyond your phone number to call you back. You can look up reviews online.

The whole system is broken. We need to demand better from our government. This is ridiculous!

Preach! 🙌 Maybe we should organize a protest or something

Have you considered hiring a lawyer? Sometimes just a letter from an attorney can light a fire under them.

I hadn't thought about that. Isn't it expensive tho?

It can be, but some offer free consultations. Might be worth looking into if nothing else works.

I'm in the same boat. It's been 3 months and still no check. I'm about ready to give up.

Has anyone tried contacting the media? Maybe some public pressure would help?

That's not a bad idea. Local news stations love these kinds of stories.
